30 GB Ipod does not produce audio

My 30 GB ipod began experiencing sound problems, later, even though songs were playing, no audio could be heard. I could not get it to work when using headphones, itrip, or any other means for that matter. Again, the music plays but there's not audio at all.

my ipod will play the music on the screen but i cannot get the audio. it doesn't matter if i use a doc or my headphones. the problem usually starts with a squelch or distorted sound of the music playing and then suddenly, no audio at all. (this problems has not been resolved and i have not located anything on the internet or elsewhere that will help).

I also noticed that pressing on the lower right hand coner ( 5 o'clock) makes the sound work. How can that be the headphone jack???

Also, the radio works... just the radio though, not the music played while the radio adapter is hooked up. so I can listen to the radio, and not the music. I have a 30gb radio...

Mine does the same thing, I have discovered if I apply pressure, (using my thmb and index finger to squeeze), on the lower right corner of the ipod, just below the 5 0-Clock position of the menu ring I will get sound as long as the pressure is applied, when I release, it goes out again.

My ipod will not play audio whatsoever. it usually starts with a squelch or distorted sound of the music playing and then suddenly, no audio. the music appears to be playing on the screen but other than that, nothing.

I was unable to find anything that would troubleshoot my 30GB Ipod that i could do on my own at home. I was emotionally attatched to my Ipod and also weighing my options of fixing my 30GB vs. buying something new that was comperable, i had to choose fixing it. The cost is less than buying a new one of the same amount of memory. So, if you are willing to save your Ipod you can contact the guys at an Ipod repair shop at the e-mail address of sales@ipodrepairz.com. these guys were very helpful. they diagnosed the problem quick and had it back to me in less than a week. the cost was $119.00. Not cheap, but in my book it was worth it.

Green and orange?? Sounds like you need to restore your iPod.
Understand this: iTunes plays what is on the computer, NOT the iPod.

Songs will not play!

I AM THE ANTIMAC! (Get a Zune - or any other generic mp3 player)
Hrrmm, could it be the file format? iPod plays m4a files, so if they're wma or something like that, it won't work. Have you played the current songs on it before with any luck? Did it stop in the middle of a song, at the end of a song or did it not work at all? With what method did you get the music on there? Download (Free/at cost?), Ripped from CD (What format? Using what program?).

Though I do not have a ipod shuffle, it sounds like you set it to run on "sample" which is a setting to play only a few seconds of the song then stop, are you using any other program besides itunes?
