Go to the start menu and click where it says run or type in right above the start button in the white field and type ncpa.cpl then push enter. Where it says wireless network, right click on it then click enable. If needed, right click again and view wireless networks or Connect/Disconnect then connect to the wireless network. Also there could be a tiny switch on the right side of the computer where you turn on the computer, there might be a button to click to turn it blue. Hope this helps

If your WiFi icon on keyboard is not blue in colour, there is a switch to turn on WiFi. Switch is located on the front cover of laptop (bottom left hand side). So bloody hidden, took me hours to find as I thought I was missing drivers etc!!!!

Wireless switch is usually located on the side of the laptop or on the front. There are those on the actual keyboard like a shortcut key. you can check out this link:

For the Dell Latitude E5500, there is a switch on the front of the computer that slides left and right. It is about 3-inches from the left side, on the surface that angles in; so you have to drag your finger-nail on the surface that your computer sets upon to be able to feel it, and get to it... it is way under there. When the switch is slid to the right, it is ON, and a blue 'wireless' icon lights up above the keyboard keys "Esc" and "F1".

My thanks are due to this post, with an image of where to find it.

Bluetooth wireless switch

Daryl,
The wireless.switch is located on the front left edge of the system. You may also want to boot into the bios by pressing the F2 key while booting up to verify that the wireless is enabled.

How to switch on Blue touch of Dell e5500

If there is no switch on the side of the laptop or front of the laptop, then it might be controlled by a button above the keyboard or by some keystrokes such as hitting the FN or ALT key then the responding key that toggles the bluetooth. it's dependent upon the wireless being on so make sure you have the wireless on.

I'm having problem connecting to the wirless internet on dell lataqitude e5500. The wireless is on but im unable to connect to any wirlesss networks? Can this problem be solved?

If you are using a firewall disable it there is a wireless toggle switch on the side of your laptop. It slides back and forth to turn your wireless card on and off. It has a little wireless symbol next to it, and you should NOT see red. If you see red showing, it means that the wireless adapter is turned off. Slide the adapter to the ON position, and then try to repair your wireless connection. Hope this helps

Dell e5500 i can't turn on the wifi

Make sure the wireless switch is on. It will be either a sliding switch on the left or right side edge of the computer, a key combination or single key, look for the wireless icon wi-fi%20icon%20e_series.jpg.

For example on the Inspiron 1545 and Studio 1555, press the <F2> key to alternatively turn off or turn on the wireless function on the computer.

You can even try to press and hold the <FN> key and hit <F2> for one time that will turn on your wifi/ if you hit <F2>key again it will turn off the wifi. It acts like a toggle switch.
