Question about Koss KS3102 System

2 Answers

Loses power I am hoping someone can help me with this. It seems that when I push the power button on the system I start to get the "hello" screen then it just dies. It loses power and I can get it to turn on. If I wait a few minutes, I try again and it does the same thing. Sometimes it works but most of the time it doesn't. Any suggestions?

When I power on the system the hello comes on and stays for a while then it goes into dvd or radio mode whichever was the last I used before turning the system off but then it freezes.

I opened the the unit and found the power supply board ( So I think it is called) dark brown in some spots mainly toward the middle and the yellow clue on the board turns brown in those areas. Obviously it overheated. But I cannot located the part number to try to find a place for ordering it. Maybe I need a schematic diagram to identify the board part number, can someone help please with the number. Thanks.

Oh I forget to put the unit I was talking about with the brown spots on the power supply board. It is a Koss home theatre with dvd model# ks 3102.

So please help to identify the part number for the power supply board.

Mine just started flickering when I turned it on. The "Hello" would flicker and other lights on the display would flicker. I first changed my power strip and that helped for a day, but in the end I do think it's the power supply. Because I purchased this system almost 5 years ago for like $99.00 I've decided to donate it to good will or if I find a computer repair school or computer center, I'll donate it there.

I attempted to throw it out (KS3102) several times. don't know why I am holding onto it after about 4- 5 years. I really enjoyed it while it was good though.

Unit powers up but display is frozen and no nothing after that. No remote or button response except for display off.

The display microprocessor(computer within your unit) may be bad. This IC is responsible for processing any and all IR(infra red) commands from the remote, as well as scanning all the push buttons on the front of the unit. If you're interested in having your unit repair, please visit me website at audioserviceclinic.com. You may contact me there. Thank you.

Try this, but you'll lose any presets and setups.

To reset the AV receiver to its factory defaults, turn
it on and, while holding down the [VIDEO 1] button,
press the [STANDBY/ON] button. “Clear” will
appear on the display and the AV receiver will enter
Standby mode.

Media error 0 shut down displays when unit is

while the machine is off mode, hold down track edit and shutdown buttons. then power on while holding these buttons. an option to to reset will come up, let go of the buttons and select "yes".
This will reformat your entire hard drive, and you will lose any music you were working on, but it becomes operational again. Or you can send it in to Tascam and let them try to bring it back, if you don't want to lose any material.
Hope this helps :)

HTS3410D power light keeps blinking

This seems to be a common problem with this model. It seems as though there are about FIVE electrolytic capacitors in the power supply PC board that have failed or dried out.

They can be replaced by someone that has the dexterity, knowledge and tools to de-solder and re-solder PC board components. Otherwise you may seek a local electronic technician. The parts cost about $5.00. Labor may run you $30 or more.

Hope this helps. I also am looking for a remote for mine, if someone has a dead HTS-3410D.

Thanks!

Black screen when trying to adjust settings

Double check to be sure the TV is on the proper input.

Can you still play a DVD? If DVDs still play, reset the system by unplugging the power cord for a minute. The menus should return.

If DVDs don't play either you may have accidentally changed a video setting. Fortunately you can access the video settings from series II and III systems with the buttons on top of the console. If would be best to call Bose tech support so they can walk you though accessing the video settings. 800-367-4008

Try a hard reset: unplug from power source, remove all cabling and wait for 5 minutes before recabling.

If that fails, it is a logic board error, in which case you are probably better off buying a new device..

Frozen hard drive

If you have a Thomson DT16300, here's a handy fix that address freeze ups, lack of reception and problems on your Hard Disk:

goto MENU screen
goto SETUP screen
goto HELP screen
At HELP screen, Enter 1397 - this accesses the engineer panel - you can reformat the HDD in this menu - you will lose all recorded programmes and planned recordings but it clears locked or corrupted files

OR - at the HELP screen, press the GREEN button

On the lower half of the screen youwill see 3 options:

Blue - Reformat HDD - clears all the memory/HDD - useful if you have a corrupted file - you will lose all recorded programmes though

Red - reset the whole box to factory settings - good if you have a locked box or reception problems or cannto scan for new channels. It goes back to when you bought the box, so you will have to input favourites and planned recordings again

Yellow - Software revert - allows you to go back to the previous software driver - you may lose new functions, but you can always restore it back again using the same feature

Sony DAV C450 No Power - Dead Unit

I am having this same problem. I have checked all fuses and all seem ok. Does anyone know what else might be keeping this from powering on? Any common problems that this one had to cause this? Also does anyone have a diagram of the schematics or the service manual?
Thanks in Advanced.
