Question about Hitachi 53UDX10B 53" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

Rolling white lines

We have Hitachi big screen and we have rolling white lines. We've tried everything. We thought it was the cable box sitting on top, so we moved it, still white rolling lines, then we thought it was the reciever on top so we removed everything around the TV and plugged in everything one at a time to see if we could locate the problem. I think it's with the TV itself. Anyone have this problem and have any solutions?????

Sometimes this can be caused by two connected devices being on the same av channel,try connecting one at a time,also check your tv is set for your region etc,pal or ntsc.and you could look in your tv settings menu and check your output ie rgb scart,forgot the other options,,hope this helps

Need the model number of the Hitachi which should be listed n the rear cover. I should be able to assist but will need the Model Number to determine which chassis design you have.

I have a Hitachi 50DX10B 2001 model it has lines rolling from top to bottom and appear lighter than the actual picture this problem comes and goes

A photo may tell what the problem is---do you have the same trouble with a DVD etc playing? Faint lines moving bottom to top could be a bad cable lead with a poor ground(shield) If it never does it with a DVD thru one of the rear inputs--suspect a problem with a cable wire connected to the set.

Good Day;

Some cable techs are good but too many are not.l So, if you have not solved this by now try this:

Unplug TV & box, wait 5 minutes plug both back in (reboot).

Good Luck.

Try disconnecting everything from the tv *except* the DVD player (that includes cable tv). You are using a component or digital connection, right? Some of these HDTVs are **** at displaying a composite feed. If this clears up the problem then the lines were probably caused by a fault in your cable tv, and you need to take it up with them.

ANYWAY, if the rolling lines remain even with everything else unplugged, it could also be electrical interference from something near by, like power cords or something.

I'm trying to fix the issue on my 43FDX20B. So far, I'm able to move the lines up and down, but can't get the left/right motion to fix it. The attached link has the dynamic mode instructions, so you can correct this issue yourself.

The only thing I didn't have was the screen overlay jig the manual talks about. I decided to create one myself and use the screen as a beginning template. I went to our local hardware store and picked up some home window weather covering. The roll cost about $15, is a clear strong plastic and the template was very easy to create. I used a straight edge after I put dots on the plastic and measured the lines for being square and equal after I took it off my tv. Good thing is that if you don't like what you make the first time, you have a 25' roll to use to try again (ha).

To fix or not?? 1990 Hitachi big screen

Sorry the answer is no. If the rolling pic was the only problem you had then yes throw a new signal board in and move on. In this case your picture not being as sharp as it used to be will also be tubes going bad..18 years not a bad run on three tubes that run extremely warm. Have fun on your upgrade to lcd or dlp proojection this will cost less than the fix of your tv.
