Tips for a great answer:
f you are experiencing issues when using a Universal Media Disc (UMD™) on the PSP system, try these troubleshooting options:
Make sure the UMD is properly inserted with the label facing the back of the PSP system. Try removing the UMD and reinserting it.
Please note, it is normal for the PSP system to make noises while it is reading from a UMD.
For PSP-1001, slide the latch to open the UMD door. For the PSP-2001 and PSP-3001, simply lift the door open.
If you have tried the troubleshooting information above, but continue to experience problems, please contact our Consumer Services department to have your PSP system serviced.

Can you run other UMD's and it read them? If so you need to possibly clean the Original UMD. If your not able to read any UmDs, or it will see the UMD and not load it up and run the UMD, you will need a new UMD drive. I can replace your UMD drive for $45 including return shipping. Contact me at Repairtech@playstationclinic.com. I run the website www.playstationclinic.com
