Hi,

Some memory cards have a Write Protection switch on them.

To check this please remove the Memory card from the camera. Check if there is a "lock" switch on the left side.
Slide this switch to the "Unlocked" position, and reinsert the card into the camera.

This should resolve the issue and the error should go away.

In case the issue persists, it could mean the the write protect on this card was perhaps set by mistake while it was connected to the
computer.

You will need to use the computer to cancel the read-only setting.

Please connect the card to your computer through the camera or a card reader and cancel the write protect on the card.
Right click on the card and go to properties and uncheck the "Read Only" box.

If this doesn't work for you, please comment and let me know, and I will be more than happy to assist you to further resolve your issue.

I will appreciate your feedback and positive rating for this free solution.

Same issue here for a SanDisk Everio 16G SD. It was working fine, but is not set read-only and can't correct this. There's no external switch and properties under Windows does not show attributes, so can't unset there. Need help!

I want to delete protected pictures

If the picture on the camera is protected, unprotect the picture first. In playback mode, scroll to the protected picture, then press the AE-L/AF-L button on the back of the camera.

If the memory card is protected, take the card out of the camera. SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

Take the memory card out of your camera. SD and SDHC cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card. If the switch is already in the proper position, slide it fully the other way and then back again.

If your pictures are on the SD card in your camera, many of the sd cards have a small micro switch on one edge that will lock your card... you may want to pull it out of the camera and make sure that the physical lock isn't set..

How do I get rid of memory card protection?

Hi,

There is a lock switch on the memory card that you can set to protect the card. Have a look at the card and check if you can see the switch. Just push it in the other direction than it is at present and all should work fine.

Please rate.

You need to take uot the memory card, and slide the small tab on one side of the card that activates protect mode on memory card.

If that does nopt work, then memory card is faulty.
