SOURCE: acer aspire one mouse pad clicks not working stuck on right click

I've got the same problem. I'm still running Linux on my aspire one, and synclient shows that the right mouse button is depressed. If I restart X (i.e. logout/login again) then it "lifts" the mouse button, which is then stuck "off" instead of on.

I checked with a multimeter and the switch on the motherboard is working fine, so if it's a hardware problem it's with the electronics rather than the switch. (however the fact that people are seeing this with both windows and Linux seems to indicate that it's either BIOS or hardware)

SOURCE: I can not disable touchpad

Go to the Control Panel. Under the 'Hardware and Sound' options, click 'Mouse'immortal4u.png

Since you have a Dell laptop, you'll have a special tab called 'Dell touchpad' in the window that pops up. Click on the touchpad picture in the window.

In the new window that appears, click 'Device Select'

Click on the 'Disable' radio button to disable the touchpad completely. If you want to disable the touchpad of your Dell laptop only when an external device like a mouse is attached, check the last option that says 'Disable Touchpad/Pointing Stick when external USB mouse is present'

That's it. You've disabled your laptop's touchpad for good. If you don't find an option to manage your touchpad in Mouse settings, you have to install Synaptics drivers from here. Similar options can be found in other laptops as well.

Good luck ! if your problem is solved don't forget to rate

Unlock keyboard for a Acer AS7540-1284

The Keyboard is locked? Or do you mean maybe the mouse pointer is locked? Look on your keyboard and see if you see anything that resembles a mouse touch pad. Some systems will lock the touch pad, but it can be unlocked by hitting a combination of keys, such as holding the FN key + the key with the touchpad icon.

    Toshiba touchpad not working

Make sure you don't have the touchpad locked. On most computers right above the touchpad in the center is a little button that locks or unlocks the touchpad. Try toggling it. If that is not your problem see if your touch pad application program somehow has locked it. Normally at the bottom right near the time you will have the touch pad application running. Just scroll your mouse pointer over each icon near the time and it will tell you what the application is. If you find the touchpad app open it and reset everything to Default. Another way to find your touchpad app is to click Start/Control Panel then look for the Mouse Application. Open it, that's the touchpad. Set everything back to default. If the problem still is not resolved I would click Start/Control Panel/ System and look for device manager. Under device manger look for the mouse and other pointing devices. If it has a + beside it, click the + to expand it to see what is under it. Right Click on the items under it and click properties. Properties will allow you to see if the device is working properly and you can also update the driver just in case it is missing or corrupt. If all the above fails, then your touchpad probably needs to be replaced. Sometimes it could be something as simple as the touchpad cable has come aloose. Try your local repair shop and get a quote, then try these guys at: They will repair it and ship it back to you by Fedex or UPS. Their prices are probably better than any quote you find including the shipping.

    Touch pad refuses to work

Try going to Toshiba's support page and re-install the driver for the touchpad. If this does not work. You may need to replace the touchpad itself.
