Question about Genie Aire Heating & Cooling

1 Answer

The unit has been working fine but it is humid today and only runs less than 2 hours before the warning light comes on and I have to drain the tank in the back again. Is there any way to delay the warning light from coming on when it is humid?

Not with out tampering, unless it has the ability to have a drain line ran off of it.

Unit will not run after about an hour until tank is drained -if a container is placed under the unit with plug out the unit will run like. An awful lot of water seems to come out of the unit.

Thing to remember about an Air Conditioner is it is transferring heat, so if you are in a hot humid enviroment you are going to condense more water, which will fill the tank up quicker.

If the tank has a spot to connect a hose to the tank, and you have a drain nearby, might be worth hooking a hose up.

a thought anyways on a fix

But the water is normal

After reading over the Owner's Manual for your unit, I wonder if you are operating it in the Cool & Dry Mode. If that's the case, the dehumidifier is in operation, which would account for having to drain the unit every 2 to 3 hours. Ideally, the Cool and Dry Mode should only be operated for about an hour, when the unit is first started . Removing the humidity will allow the AC function to cool more effectively. But, it is not necessary for it to remain in Cool & Dry mode all the time. Because the AC itself unit will remove some humidity too.

Hope this helped you to troubleshoot and solve the issue of having to drain the unit every 2 to 3 hours

Light comes on but dehumidifier does not work (i.e. does not extract water from the air). This is a DEC21 model

Is it running?
If the room tempature is close to 60, the coils may be frozen (completely encased in ice). If this is the case, move it where the water can drain off - about 1 gallon which may NOT run into the drain bucket.
I out mine over the floor drain.
Turn off and it will defost over night.
Only specially made dehumidifers work below a room temo of 60 degrees (the temp of a basement in winter).
Does it need to be running? A digital humidity sensot from Radio Shack is cheap and may tell you the humidity is OK - only 50% or less. In that case your unit won't turn on.

Have Whirlpool AD50USS - unit ran for over 24 hours in DRY mode but collected no water. Should have been water in bucket as basement smells musty.

No water in Dehumidifier

1) low outside temp means low inside humidity

Amana APO95R Turning Off/Tank Light (!) On and Off

There are only two items that will shut it down after it is set to run. The bucket full which you took care of and low humidity in the area it is being operated in. Low humidity would not constitute a reason for returning it.

A lot of H2O and Alarm

You may have a drain sensor problem. If your machanical you can try to tie the sensor together to see if this allows the unit to run, if so, replace the sensor.
