There should be a "mini-manual" (tech sheet) hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting, testing, and locating components.

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

Our door switch help file is here.

You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number from the tag on the oven here.

We're happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

Check the door safety interlock switch. More than 90% of problems like this are due to failed safety switch. Switch fails because people open the door when the oven is operating.

Check the door safety interlock switches. If they are faulty, the oven thinks the door is open. Forget what YOU know about the status of the door, the oven wants proof the door is closed and the safety interlock switch provides that information.

What happens is this: If you open the door while the oven is running, you cause these tiny switches to arc and they will eventually burn out and not function properly.

Microwave

Warning! To avoid personal injury or even death, always disconnect your appliance from its power source--that is, unplug it or break the connection at the circuit breaker or fuse box--before you do any troubleshooting or repair work on your appliance. Also, because some components may have sharp edges, use caution while working on your appliance.

This may possibly be a door switch issue. The door has to interlock 3 switches to provide safety and performance functions. If the performance function switch fails or is misaligned, it can cause these symptoms. Occasionally you may encounter a "sticky" door switch that may correct itself with a little harder closure of the door. If you are not familiar with how a microwave oven works, I would suggest a professional repairman look at this problem as it involves safety related issues.

If my assistance helped resolve this issue, please show your appreciation by rating how effective my advice was in resolving this issue.
Thank you,

Yes, the fuse being bad would kill the unit totally.

Do the fan and inside light work when you try to cook?

If so, then the problem is in the high voltage section.

If not, then the problem is most likely a door switch or mount issue or possibly a problem on the control board.

Generally, the most common causes of a failure to heat are:

- bad door switches or door switch mounts
- loose connection at the magnetron
- problem or loose connection on the control unit circuit board
- bad magnetron or other high voltage part (such as a shorted diode)

If you or someone you know decide to look into it, we have critical safety information, info on door switch diagnosis and replacement, and disassembly information at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk

You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here: http://tinyurl.com/gv383

If you think the problem is on the control panel, we repair these nationwide by mail for $39.95 postpaid in most cases.

All functions work except no heat

In this case I would most suspect the magnetron (or a bad connection at the magnetron) or a problem on the control panel.

But generally, the most common causes of a failure to heat are:

- bad door switches or door switch mounts
- loose connection at the magnetron
- problem or loose connection on the control unit circuit board
- bad magnetron or other high voltage part (such as a shorted diode)
