SOURCE: We have several Monroe 3140
Load the printer with a quick-drying paper, there are several varieties of paper with smudge-proof coatings. These specialty papers can be bought at most office supply shops.
the cause for ink smears on printouts is that the head gap lever may be placed in an improper position. If the lever is moved toward the "plus" position, the smearing problem should cease happening.
An ink buildup in the cartridge may be blocking the ink from flowing or may cause it to come out in sudden spurts, creating smears.
Remove the printheads and lay them on newspaper or a cloth to catch any ink spills. Dip a Q-tip in distilled water and squeeze out the excess with a paper towel. Clean the ink off the top of the printheads with the Q-tip. Allow the printheads to air dry, and reinsert them and run a test print.
Align the print heads.Remove the ink cartridges and tap them firmly against a hard surface Be sure to have a paper towel or napkin underneath where you tap; if this does fix the head, drops of ink will begin coming out. Replace the cartridges.
