Kenmore Elite He3T problems, won't drain

By pit_gypsy on May 25, 2008

" "
I have a 4 year Kenmore Elite He3t front loading washer. Yesterday it wouldn't dran or spin. I used a wet vac to clear out the tub and the operateing light s came as usual, they would'nt before I draned the tub. I tryed operating the machine in normal mode and sarted to fill and then went to wash mode. Tub spun for a bit and then would'nt spin. It did agiate as the tb wash being filled Any, in short...the tub won't drain or agiate/spin. The controls stop responding and door stays locked. I've unplugged the machine, wet vaced the tub nd drain hose. I read another post about unscrewing the bottom panel on th front bottom of the machine and pull it off to get at the pump. I have no screws on the front or sides of the machine and when I try to pry it off the whole front of the machine wants to come with it. Sorry for being so long winded, thats just the way I do things. Thanks for any help on this

- This worked like a charm. I was so worried that I would have to replace the pump. Thanks so much for your help.

-   How do you get the front panel off?-   joey_lewis

-   I am having the same problem as pit_gypsy, however my machine has a removable front panel. I have removed this, unscrewed the white cap inside and drained the water. (I watched a repairman do this once when I was having a similar problem.) There was some lint in the trap which I removed. This did not fix the problem. Now what do I try??? The door remains locked with wet laundry inside. The wash cycle stops and reads the F 02 code which indicates drain problem. Thanks for any assistance!! RLM -   rlmecredy

The machine knows when there is water left in the tub and will not function properly because the level switch indicator is still open.Ok, to simplify this ,you have a clogged pump and if there is no access into the machine from the front then look at the back to see if there is.Open the panel and remove the hoses from the pump and remove what is caught in it.Also look into the ends of both the 2 hoses.Don't wash RUGS,MOPS,COIN MONEY,NAILS,JEWELERY,UNDER WIRE BRA'S,OR ANY THING THAT DOESN'T BELONG IN THE WASHER,cause these little things don't make it past the pump, therefor washer leaves water inside and error messages start rolling.

Our front panel screws are under the panel lip. We have the base pedestal so they were easy to access. Cleaned the filter and removed the bellows and thoroughly washed it as well. Now it drains like a charm. Thank you to everyone for your wisdom!
