New ink cartridges are installed. No error messages but printer not scanning or printing. I have deep cleansed it twice.

Scanning isn't related to the cartridges problem unless you meant copying. The instructions to align the cartridges might help, if it insists on alignment after new cartridges are added.

Did you remove the (usually pink) tabs from the cartridges before installing?
Did you get a printout from a test page or from the cleaning operation?
Also try a removal, then reinstall of the device.

How do I do an alignment test

Click on Start - Printer and Faxes - Right click on the Canon printer - click Properties - click on Maintenance tab - then Print head Alignment. The printer will then print a page with a series of color bars. Note the clearest color print of each color and enter that number when instructed.

My Canon MP190 printer prints good, but at the left of the print the alignment is too much to the left, so capitals "fall off" the page. Canon says it is not a printer problem, but something else, but...

Click Start
Click All Programs
Click Accessories
Open Notepad
Click File
Click Page Setup

Check that the "page-margins" are not set to '0.0'.

Or, start Microsoft Word or Works or whatever "text-editor" that you use, and similarly check the "printer setup" for "left-margin".
