Hello. The most common problem with these units is dust and dirt. Use a small brush and a vacuum cleaner to thoroughly spruce up the entire mechanical area. J.

Heat exchanger

If the fan coming on blows out the pilot light it is a pretty good indication that the heat exchanger is cracked. You should not continue to use the heater. I recommend contacting a qualified service technician to check it out and confirm that it is a cracked heat exchanger. Hope this helps

Williams heater model 3509612

Hold the button for 30 seconds, then release. If it goes out right away, you have a bad thermocouple. If the unit does not sense that the pilot light is lit, all of the gas is shut off, including the pilot light.

Pilot is lit,but heater will not turn on. was working fine yesterday.

this heater runs on 750 milivolts. it is created by the pilot lite. the heat for the flame on the pilot generator makes it all happen. the pilot should be covering the generator 3/8 to 1/2" from the top. the generator is about as big as you small finger. it has the wire going to it next to the pilot gas . a dirty or loose connection will keep it from working also. it connects to the gas valve with a red and white wire.turn your t stat as low as it will go and take a wire, paper clip?, and cross the red to the 3rd screw with out the white wire this should make the burner come on,bypassing the thermostat.if that works clean the wire connection at t stat

Pilot shuts off a williams wall unit thermostat is new is electronic and batteries are new and replaced constantly and pilot continues to shut off what is the problem?

You probably have a failing thermocouple. It is the small probe in the pilot light and you can get a replacement at any good hardware store or farm center.

Williams Model 435FXR Serial GO222436 Forced air pilot keeps going out

BY THERMISTOR, ARE YOU MEANING THERMOCOUPLE, I.E. WHAT YOUR PILOT LIGHT IS HEATING? IF SO, COULD BE WEAK AND NOT GENERATING ENOUGH VOLTAGE TO STAY OPEN, SHOULD BE BETWEEN 10-25 MILLIVOLTS DC, WHICH CAN BE TESTED AT THE INTERRUPTER LEADS. YOU CAN ALSO BYPASS THE LIMIT DISC TEMPORARILY TO SEE IF THE UNIT STAYS LIT, REPLACE IT IF THE UNIT RUNS.

Pilot light on but heater won't come on when I turn up the thermostat

Williams heaters have a manual reset for the spill safety switch. If the heater is not venting properly it will trip this switch and shut off main burner function. The switch is on the left side of the cover inside the small vent. You can use a screwdriver to push the button back in. If the heater then works you will need to get the vent inspected to make sure it is connected properly and there is no blockage.
