Question about Admiral Refrigerators

1 Answer

This is the second time the freezer accumulates water and freezers at the bottom of the freezer section of the Admiral HMG67158, 26.6 cu ft freez/refrig. The coils behind the panel were completely frozen over and the drip pan was full. When it was fixed the first time, 2 years ago the repair man said the drain tube was cloged. I see no drain tube. This time the refrigerator side was not cooling and my milk soured and got mold on some foods. Iam hopeing that I dont have two separate problems. Thank you

Unplug unit, remove back panel inside freezer and manually defrost with hair dryer, sounds like you have a defrost problem, check defrost thermostat, defrost heater or defrost timer, defrosting with hair dryer will fix until it freezes up again

It sounds like you have a broken place in the door gasket that is allowing warm air to enter the freezer.

Hello,

The most likely source of that water is a frozen/blocked drain for the defrost drain at the bottom of the freezer behind the back wall of the freezer. Its a fairly common problem so i have written this tip explaining how to clean that drain for the defrost.

Have moved into new house with Admiral freezer/fridge/icemaker. Leaks water onto floor from time to time under freezer. Ice maker not connected to water supply so not that.ANY SUGGESTIONS?

Defrost drain is clogged causing this problem. Clear the dfrost drain and pan from inside the freezer section by removeing the freezer back cover plate and you will see from there. No extra parts required just patience.

What causes ice build up on the bottom of a freezer?

your drain is probably plugged so when the fridge goes on defrost the water has nowhere to go.After the defrost cycle when the frige starts to freeze again the water freezes up causing ice build up

Admiral HMG 62163 water leaking internally & freezing in lower basket

good attempt, its actually a clogged drain thats backing up and your drain water is not able to leave refrig so it falls to bottom of freezer floor and eventually out the door. romve the items from the freezer and take the lower back wall off form inside, directly under the evaporator under all that ice there is a drain hole, youll need to clear that hole of iec( pouring boiling water down until you get a free flow of water then you can reassemble uint problem solved

Does freezer cool like the cold food section? Did this suddenly happen, and frozen food began to thaw?  Most freezers control the cooling in the cold food section. The freezer must work fine before the cold food section will work fine. Let us know more, Thanks JT
