In Italy, have Netgear router, can only get google

I'm in Italy and I have a netgear router where I live, and while it says "Excellent" connection, I can only get to google websites and AIM and skype. Facebook, hotmail, no site other than a few with just text and google will come up.

I'm not in Italy, but I have an IDENTICAL problem. went through the changing of the DNS numbers, rebooted the router.... and hotmail, myspace, and a few others get five green bars at the bottom, like its trying to go there, but then give me the generic 'Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage' message.

The first thing to do is ensure they haven't been blocked in the router. To do this, log into your router and click Block Sites on the left hand side. If they are not displayed there, make sure it's not a DNS issue. To do this, log into your router and click Basic Settings. The change your DNS servers, to the OpenDNS servers; 1. Locate "Domain Name Server (DNS) Address " 2. Change the setting to "Use These DNS Servers" Primary: 208.67.222.222 Secondary: 208.67.220.220 3. Click Apply, and re-boot your router IMPORTANT: If your router is already set to "Use These DNS Servers", make sure to make a note of the IP's already in there, just incase you want to switch back, or the OpenDNS servers do not work (unlikely but possible). Once re-booted, try accessing the previously blocked websites. If you find they are still unavailable, check they aren't blocked directly on your computer (e.g. via a firewall or other security product). To do this, click Start > Run and type: CMD At the prompt, enter the following and press return (do this for each line below); nslookup {BLOCKED_DOMAIN} >> nslookup.txt tracert {BLOCKED_DOMAIN} >> tracert.txt Where {BLOCKED_DOMAIN} is one of the domains you cannot access. nslookup will provide the website's current IP for you. Aslong as this is NOT an internal IP (169.*, 172.*, 192.*, 10.*), it is resolving correctly. Tracert will allow a trace connection from your computer, to the affected websites. Lines you do not want, will contain a *.

All routers made by NETGEAR DG834G routers admin panel is located here type this into the browser (not the search engine)

http://192.168.0.1

Username:admin
Password:password (unless its been changed)

Then goto connected devices when you Xbox is plugged in and find you MAC address and IP address for all clients connected to the router, create a reservation if you want you X-Box to have the same IP adrress everytime it is used.

Check this excellent website for other passwords that may work on other models if you have any problems.

Stronger Wireless Signal with 2701HGB Router?

Netgear's web site has an excellent tutorial on how to do this. It involves turning off the DHCP on the Netgear, and linking the LAN prots of the two routers. There is no connection to the WAN port of the Netgear.

Here's the link http://kbserver.netgear.com/kb_web_files/n101236.asp

WG311 - Excellent Connection, No Internet

I do it for a living. In my experience with routers in general, they have a tendency to reset themselves with general poweroutages and power surges. I would suggest hard wiring to the router and going into the settings. It might surprise you to find the wep key changed itself during the week. Hope this helps.
