its wise to change your pads asap but if your car feels fine then i recommend checking the pads yourself to see how much you have left on them.
i say this for i have had cars come to me before with the wear light on and theres been like another 2000mile left on them

that warning is telling you the brake pads are approaching replacement time. have them inpected and will probably need service. i dont think you will lose your brakes, but have checked asap

Yes the parking brake uses a small set of brake shoes that act on a drum built into the rear rotor. There is no wear sensors on the parking brakes. There are however wear sensors on the front and rear brake pads. If your brake pad warnig light is on I would have the service brake pads inspected.
