Question about Heating & Cooling

1 Answer

I have a Bryant 561CJ060-A air conditioning unit. When I turn the A/C on the compressor makes a hissing sound for a short time and then I can smell something like rubber burning down near the compressor. The fan motor does not come on during this process and I have tested the motor which works perfectly. Could a faulty capacitor be causing this problem or should I look elsewhere?? Thank you for your help.

Just replaced the capacitor, and reconnected. Turned power on and heard a buzzing sound from the condensor, then the fan turned on. the unit only runs for a few minutes then shuts off

The buzz is the compressor failing to start. The blue or purple wire from the compressor goes to herm on the capacitor. If it's wired right and does not stare the compressor is bad.

Having problems with my bryant 601a package unit blower is working and moving air but not cold my unit fan is turning off and on but not sure the compresser is working i replaced the capacitor any other...

I would check to make sure the compressor is in fact working (people sometimes mistake the condenser fan being on for the compressor, which makes an almost dieseling sound). The indoor fan is a separate circuit from the compressor.

You may have a problem with the transformer inside the air Handler. You may need to check your breaker to the unit if it is a gas furnace make sure it is plugged in to the wall outlet. If it is electric you will be on a breaker inside your breaker panel. The transformer is a 120 volt primary to a 24 Volt secondary. I hope this helps.

561CJ060-a bryant air conditioner two control wires disconnected

Sorry if I am answering this 2x. If it is just A/C then the red and white probably go to the coil for the contactor that cuts on the fan and compressor. If it is a heat pump then they probably go to a circuit board. Red to R terminal and White to W1 terminal. Let me know what you find.

Noisy Bryant Air Conditioner with Puron Regrigerant Model 113A

Steve, From your description you may have some debris on the inside of your A\C line. When you install a split system there needs to be a filter drier installed to collect any excess solder\brazing material or any other solid or moisture contaminents. A miniscual piece will lodge in the metering device then sometimes push through go through the compressor and make another pass. Making horrendous noise and sometimes tripping the breaker. A drier is usually a blue cylinder on the smaller line right before the indoor coil attached to your heater. Some Techs put one by the outside unit. If you dont have a drier it may void your warranty.
