just not what i wanted to hear, but thanks

My microwave doesn't heat but everything else is working fine. I troublehot many of the components, HV capacitor, transofrmer, magnetron and the diode. The only fault I can detect is the diode as I am getting an infinite reading in both directions. What is the possibility this is actually the problem. I used two different high end meters, one of them Simpson. The microwave is the GE Spacesaver 1400.

I have the same problem as mrao3 (posted July, 2008). Did he ever find a fix? If so, what was it and how much did it cost?

This can be the magnetron power supply area, the controler for the magnetron power supply, or the main control board itself.

If the turntable is spinning, the countdown timer is working, and the fans are going, this leaves out the possiblity for a defective safety switch.

I suggest you send the microwave oven out for an estimate if it is out of warranty. I would not suggest you try to fix this yourself.

It is impossible for the best of techical people to tell you the exact fault for any device without going inside and taking readings and tracing down for the exact failure. In your microwave oven there are many possible fault areas that will cause it to not be able to function.

You will have to send your microwave in for service or buy a new one. I would suggest to not fix this yourself. The voltages employed in the power supply are lethal. There are also dangers of radition leak if re-assembly of critical areas is not correct.

I have a ge spacemaker XL1400 model # JMV1440WD. Everything works fine but it will not heat anything. Any suggestions?

The magnetron (the part that heats the food) may be bad or the circuitry to the magnetron may have burned out. Basically my advice is that if you have no electrical expertise, it isn't worth fixing. The magnetron if bad, costs almost as much as a new microwave. If you open it up (make sure it has been unplugged for a few hours and don't seen any obvious burnt parts (including a fuse), then most likely the magnetron is done and a new microwave is the way to go.

Let me know how this works out for you.
