Question about Radio Shack 3808 Digital Answering Machine

1 Answer

I have a radio shack 43-3808A answering machine. I want to get messages from a remote phone. The directions in my manual say to enter the security code after receiving the two tones. The machine makes a tone beginning the incoming message, and at the end of the incoming message. If I enter the security code of "123" followed by the command code of "2#" after the first tone or after the second tone, it does not work. I am not using a battery; does the remote checking of calls depend on there being a battery? Can you help?

I just bought a Radio Shack 43-3829 telephone answering machine. What does a caller need to do to send a message to a specific mail box? Right now all messages are going to the general mail box.

To put the message in a specific mail box, the caller needs to press *1, *2 or *3 (touch tone phone) before leaving their message. (Of course the answering system has to pick up before the key stroke.) Obviously the number corresponds to the mail box that will get the message.

So if you want to include these directions in your outgoing message, you would need to add something like "To leave a message for John press Star 1, for Sam press Star 2" when you record the ogm.

The manual for the answering system is available from Radio Shack. See http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2257360#tabsetBasic . The direct link to the English version of the manual is http://www.radioshack.com/graphics/uc/rsk/Support/ProductManuals/4303829_PM_EN.pdf .

I hope this helps.

How do i get messages from remote location

To use your system from a remote telephone, you must first enter a 3-digit remote operation security code. The security code label is located on the bottom of the system.

1. Dial your phone number.

2. When your outgoing message is playing, enter your remote operation security code. Bd appears on the display to indicate the system is in remote mode.

If there are no new messages, you hear three beeps.
These are the remote codes available to you:

2 # Play all messages.
2 5 Play new messages.
3 # Delete all old messages.
7 # Record new outgoing message.
7 # Stop recording outgoing message.
8 # Record memo.
8 # Stop recording memo.
9 # Turn system off/on.
0 # Monitor the room..

I have a Radio Shack digital answering machine 43-3808A. It is supposed to allow me to check message remotely but I cannot get it to work. I noticed another message at this website saying the same thing...

Looking at the manual
http://support.radioshack.com/support_phones/doc68/68590.pdf

The code is NOT changeable as near as I can tell. It is written on a label on your unit.

When it answers, after it plays the message, you should type in that 3 digit code. Suppose it is 123.

You should type in 123 and then immediately enter the command you want.

Try 9# to record a memo, and see if it records. That is, type 1239#, and you should be able to record a memo I think the two tones is a misprint. Most of the time you enter the code either while the outgoing message is playing, or immediately after the outgoing message finishes.

We have a Radio Shack digital answering machine and it says Lo. What does that mean? Also, how can you delete messages from another location? Thank you, Irissil@aol.com

"LO" in the display means the backup battery is low or not installed. For instructions on remote access and other operation, you can download the manual here from Radio Shack. Thanks for using Fixya!
