Whirlpool dishwasher does not pump all the water out of the basin. How do I get to the pump to clean the debris out. It seems impossible to get to the pump from inside the tub.

Double check that the float on the basin isn't stuck. It is mushroom shaped and inside the DW. Open the door, slide out the bottom rack, and look for it. Found it, great. Gently move it up and down a couple times. Does it move freely? Was it stuck? No? Ok Then lets try something else.

Call the manufacturer and ask them questions. If it is less that a year old, it is covered under basic warrantee. Do not delay.

Also check other common issues with DWs: Is their debris in air gap or in the bottom of the DW, where the drain is screened?

1. The air gap is usually located on top of the sink. Lift off the pretty cover, and unscrew the top cap nut. Is there rice and debris there? Remove it then. Reassemble and check it out.
2. The DW drains to the bottom of the unit where the pump is. This area is screened off so that the pump doesn't get clogging debris in it. is their leaf lettuce and stuff covering this? Remove that debris. Some times this area can only be accessed by removing the bottom spinning spray head. It comes off with a nut, possibly this nut is reverse thread. Reassemble when done looking for debris.
3. Is the drain line between the DW pump (located under the DW) and the waste pipe kinked? This line is a plastic corrugated line about 7/8" around the outside. It is a pumped waste and won't work if it is kinked, so unkink it.
4. Is the float stuck. This is a device on the bottom of your DW that tells the DW how much water is in the bottom of the DW basin. It looks like a mushroom. Gently move it up and down. Does it move freely or is it stuck? Unstick it.

Good luck.

Dishwasher will not drain

Check for debris in two areas.

1 the air gap. That is the thingy that makes noise when the DW is working properly. It is usually mounted on the top of the sink. Pull off the pretty cover and unscrew just the top of the plastic lid. Is their rice and debris in there? Take it out. And put the air gap back together again.

2 The basin of your DW. Is the Screening on the bottom of your DW clogged with paper and stuff, anything that stops the flow of dirty dishwater from flowing to the pump? Clean that whole area away (this can be an advanced step but you can do it. I trust you. Some models you must unscrew the bottom spray head to get at the drain area. If you trust you, go ahead and disassemble to try to clear the screen). Does this do the trick and fix the drain?

If you still have problems, try to see if float is stuck. The float is inside your DW basin on the bottom. It looks like a mushroom. Gently pull it up and down. Does it seem to stick? If it does not move freely it will not work, and will not tell your dishwasher, "hey you still have water in here. Get it out."

Does the pump make a running sound? Is the pumped waste (from the bottom of the DW) kinked? Unkink it.

Good Luck.

Not draining all the way modelshx45p02uc/59

There will always be some water in the sump at the end of cycle, this should never however be above the level of the filters. This is why the machine will always run the pump for a while before it fills when you select a new cycle (to remove stale water). There are specific dishwasher cleaning products available which you should be able to buy from the bosch website accessories shop. Hard water should not be an issue in a dishwasher as it has it's own build in softener unit (this will only function correctly however if you maintain the salt levels)

Does not clean very well anymore

Hi,

On this model poor cleaning is typically due to debris in the sump area of the pump that blocks the water intake to the pump. I have put together some instructions on how to remedy this. Follow the link below and let me know if it is helpful.

Quiet partner 1 top rack does not get clean at all

Hi,

I would suspect you have debris in the pump that is causing a pressure drop so the water is not spraying well in the upper arm.

Try this procedure to clean out the sump. Let me know if it helps.

Dishes on top shelf are not comming clean

Check these things out.

Debris caught in spray arm holes. Remove spray arm and clean out with water and compressed air.

Heating element burned out. Check water temp during wash--should read between 130 to 140 F.

Insufficient water fill in basin. In most models, proper fill level is just up to the heating element. Much less than this will result in poor cleaning.

Holding water

are the dishes getting clean at the end of the cycle, if not then there could be foreign debris in the pump housing that can cause this, needs to be dismantled and cleaned out, if dishes are clean then the pump impeller will need to be replaced
