Question about ViewSonic VP930b 19" LCD Monitor

Open Question

I have a ViewSonic VP930b LCD monitor that has been working okay via a VGA cable. Today, I connected a DVI cable (while the display and PC were turned off) to see if the display would improve. The monitor recognized the changed cable. Unfortunately, the display settings changed due to the cable change and now everything on the display has a light blue hue. When I attempted to do a customized preset, the individual color adjustments will not work. If I remember when everything was working correctly, the previous color temperature setting was 6500K. Now this setting provides a very strong blue hue. Changing the color temperature to 5400K helps, but there still is a light blue hue. Going back to the VGA cable does not resolve the issue. Attempts to fix the problem by doing multiple customized presets, including the factory setting, does not provide a fix. Any help that you could provide would be appreciated.

Go to the setup menu on the LCD panel by pressing button 1 on the front. See if there is an option to reset the lcd to factory settings. Reset it and report if it helps not.

I have a Viewsonic Monitor vs11349 and it will not connect with my acer PC...it comes up "no display". The monitor has a DVI that I need to use a VGA adapter. SHouldn't it work?

Did you try the setting on the monitor to use the DVI port instead of VGA port. Should also try it on another PC to narrow down the problem. Try VGA to VGA cable also.

you are unable to get an image on your ViewSonic monitor, first check that the necessary cables are attached correctly and that the proper drivers are installed. ViewSonic offers drivers for download directly through its website (see Resources).

Some LCD monitors use a VGA input while others take advantage of the newer DVI interface to provide a connection to PCs (some ViewSonic monitors offer both types). When connecting your monitor for the first time, you'll need the right type of cable for both your monitor and computer. In some cases an adapter may be necessary to convert the DVI signal from your monitor to work in a VGA input on your PC.

Check that the VGA or DVI cable is tightly attached to the back of your monitor and to the back of your PC. Use the small thumb screws on the ends of the connectors to keep everything tightened in place, which will prevent the cable from getting loose.

ViewSonic monitors also use a power cable to plug into a power source. If the power light does not comes on, check that the power cable is inserted fully into the back of the monitor and that it is plugged into a working wall outlet or a reliable surge protector.

VGA connection works, DVI does not

Everything seems perfectly normal...

When you connect the computer to the monitor via an analog VGA cable, you get signal on the analog input.
When you connect them via a DVI cable, you feed the monitor's DIGITAL input, so the monitor doesn't get any signal on it's analog input, and informs you about it.
You have to select the digital input from the monitor's On Screen Menu, and then start the computer up - you should see the picture OK.
Also remember to set the display resolution on your computer to match the optimum (native) resolution of your monitor - this will give you optimum picture quality. In case of VA712B it will be 1280x1024.
Good luck and please come back with a testimonial if helped.

DVI input on monitor not working

Contacted viewsonic about this issue- they suggested- have both dvi and vga hooked up to same machine. start with poweroff on both. power on monitor, then power on computer. when you see display coming from the vga, power off pc, then disconnect vga cable, turn off power to monitor, disconnect power cord from monitor for 5 + seconds, reconnect power cord, power on monitor, then power on pc.
If this doesn't work to get the dvi working, (as happened to us) we returned our monitor for a replacement, since it was still under warranty.
