Goto control panel goto printers right click to select your printer click on properties look for the TAB for color select the checkbox to print in Color click OK.
You can also try printing something when the printer box pops-up right click on your printer select properties click on the TAB for color click the checkbox for color click OK click OK to print.

Why does the the left hand orange button flash ?

Here's what worked for me,
Obviously check and make sure you deficiently haven't ran out of ink.

Turn the printer off Remove the colour cartridge
dab the cartridge point with a slightly damp tissue, if ink comes out then turn printer back on without the colour cartridge and try and print some thing in black and white.
turn printer off again and insert the colour cartridge
This strangely will get rid of the blinking light.
If there was no ink reissue on the tissue when dabbed, you'll need to get a new cartridge.

If problems persist I'd recommend getting the printer properly cleaned.
Hope this helps.

My c4180 printer says Ink cartridge problem. Remove and check colour cartridge. Cant get message to go away. I use original Hp ink cartridges

If the color cartridge contacts are clean and there is stil ink in the cartridge.
What you could try is to remove both ink cartridges.
Close cover and turn off printer and unplug the printer.
Wait at least 15 minutes for the printer to reset to clear memory.
Plug the printer back in and turn on and install the ink cartridges.
If you cartridge is not empty and has not expired.
You may call HP and ask for a free replacement.

Hardly print in colour but run out of colour ink really quickly.

Really if you know you don't print in colour you can just decide to remove the colour ink from the printer and observe to know if it empties after a while which might mean that it was getting dried up somehow.

Do get back to me over this after you might have tried it out.

Good luck and thanks for using Fixya.

Ink won't show up properly

Two possibilities, you have run out of ink in one or more cartidges, or you may have selected "draft" mode in you rprinter properties or prefrences. Draft mode saves ink by reducing the amount of ink put on the page.

Replaced cartridges

keep cleaning untill it starts to print clearly, you may reuse the same paper for that purpose, if you don't see any progress after 10 cleans, consider getting lasser printers, they are immune to print head drying and save alot of money on ink replacements. go with brother color or black and white series. I switched and don't have problems anymore

Epson sx200 One of the colour inks is empty and no print in black

Hi, this is not a solution because I don't think there is one apart from buying new inks. Epson and all other inkjet printers do this to prevent the coloured print head nozzles from getting blocked. If they are not used for a long time the ink dries up and blocks the nozzles. Epson recommends printing at least once a month with all colours to prevent this. Printing in black only option will only work if the colored inks are OK. Whenever the printer is turned on it performs a head clean, this is why the coloured inks get used over time even though they are not used for printing.

How do i turn off the ink sensor on ip4200

replace the cardridge, thats pretty much your only option, canon do make lke 1% of the chips that are faulty or fail over time, if you insert another colour and it detects that as a wrong colour then the head is working ok, replace the cart and u should be ok, if its new return it you should get a replacement for fee if not call your canon office and explain that its new, it doesnt work, it reads others and the place where you bought it from wont replace it, they SHOULD send out a new one or credit you. canon are very good at this.
