I'm trying to hook up my Panasonic DVD player (model DVD-S29) to a Comcast cable box but have not been successful. My DVD player only has Audio Out connections, with no audio in connections. I...

the cable in should go to the box and cable out from the box to the TV.These should all be coaxial cables correct?Hook up the DVD player to the TV using the red, white, and yellow cables is also correct. In order to watch a DVD,you have to use the input select button on the remote for the TV ONLY to change inputs. If you have a universal remote for the TV and not the original factory remote provided with the TV,you need to use the menu button located on the outside of the TV.I just searched on my flat screen and was unable to find an input select through the menu button. It may not be possible on this TV if you do not have the original remote and if you own a universal. My universal for one of my older TV's is about 7 years old so I do not know if newer ones have an input select option. If they do not,it is most likely due to patents and royalty payments which these cheap remote makers do not want to pay.Anyhow, let me know if this helps.Just comment here and i will get an auto link to your comments.Good luck! I just bought a yamaha rx-v365 receiver and hooked to my cable box via a hdmi and optic audio cable. this is working fine but i cant get a dvd player to work via a component and coax audio cable. neither...

Make sure that the DVD player is connected into the correct inputs on the receiver and that the receiver also has the correct input selected to play. If your TV also has component video inputs it is best to connect the player directly to the TV. Otherwise, make sure you have the TV connected to the receiver via component video out.

Won't get signal to TV.

Check the usual suspects, like unit is plugged in and gets power, etc.

The first thing is to try resetting the player. While it's plugged in and powered on, press and hold the FF and RW buttons together. This resets the player back to factory defaults.

Now you can go ahead and hook up to the TV. You didn't mention what type of connection you're using but make sure you're using cables you have verified to be working. Start with composite and work your way up through S-Video, Component, and then HDMI. These connections should all be made directly from the player to the TV. Make sure the TV is changed to the correct input and only hook up one connection type at a time.

Resetting the player should undo any setting changes or lockups you may have experienced and testing the video outputs one by one should tell you the rest. If none of the outputs work hooked directly to the TV then the player is probably broken and will need service.

Good luck!

Hooking up DVD/VCR combo to directTV and console RCA

I'd first just hook up the DVD/VCR to the TV and get that working. I'm assuming all you need is the standard cable type connection. This will at least your 4 year old happy. Then you can experiment with the S cable. The S cable will give a cleaner signal from the DVD to the TV. then hook up audio and video cables from the Direct TV to the DVD input. The audio and video will be cleaner using S cables and audio and video cables, but stadard TV cable should get you going. You didn't mention what model DVD player you have. You may have to select the correct inout on the DVD for the Direct TV connection.

When passing the video signal thru a VCR on the way to the TV, you are activating the DVD's "Macrovision" copy protection.  You need to hook it directly to the TV.
