Question about LG Flatron L1715S 17" LCD Monitor
I have an LG 1715S, just out of warranty. Suddenly a few days ago the screen went blank, and now if I turn it on and off again the picture flashes up for less than a second, then goes again. I've noticed that the screen is in fact still on, just very very dark.
I can confirm the number 3 solution. I have fixed a bunch of these now.
Replace capacitor C202, 680uf 25V. It is usually visibly damaged. It should be a low impedance type, often known as "suitable for switch mode power supply".

I’ve got this same problem on the LG
1715S... I can’t fix it but I know a work around that you can use every time
you use your computer.
From the back of your computer remove the cable going into your video card ... wait a few seconds (you should see a diagnostics message on the screen).... Then put the cable back in again and the monitor should work.
This is just a workaround but at least you don’t have to bin your monitor.

Hi, I have just repaired one of these with the same problem. Turned out to be a 680uf 25v capacitor that had failed. Capacitor was visibly domed. Easy repair with new capacitor. Hope this helps.

Heat up the internal of the monitor with a hair dryer. After a minute or two when the internal parts are getting warm the minitor starts after pressing the on of. You can have a hair dryer mounted permantetly to the monitor as I have. Then i run the hait dryer five minutes before I use the computer.

This can be the main power supply, or back plane power supply, or back plane lamps. The monitor would have to be opened up and troubleshooted to determine where the failure is.
It is very possible that the monitor may not be worth to service. You should get an estimate from the authorised service rep to make the decision.

A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
