Question about LG Flatron L1715S 17" LCD Monitor

LG 1715S faulty

I have an LG 1715S, just out of warranty. Suddenly a few days ago the screen went blank, and now if I turn it on and off again the picture flashes up for less than a second, then goes again. I've noticed that the screen is in fact still on, just very very dark.

I have an LG1733tr-sf monitor, the power light just gives a short flicker when you plug it in-then goes off. The screen never comes on. I have taken then monitor apart and see no sign of damage. The power supply is a LIEN CHANG AIP0122 rev d, c202 is a 1000uF 25v-I took it out and it checks ok. I can trace the incoming power to the transformer (approx 75vac) but nothing out of it, the transformer (t101) checks out ok resistance wise. Not sure where to go from here.

I have the exact same problem. I did what the guy said (taking out the video card wire and plug it again in) and it worked for a month or so, but now it oesn't work anymore... The screen goes in the Power Saving Mode with no change...

I have the same problem. I have the LG 1715s monitor for 5 years now, and it's never had a problem until last night. I left the computer transferring files for 5 minutes, and when I came back there was no image on the monitor, despite the green light still being on. If I turn the monitor off and back on again I get a split second of display - not long enough to see anything...and it's gone a gain

I can confirm the number 3 solution. I have fixed a bunch of these now.
Replace capacitor C202, 680uf 25V. It is usually visibly damaged. It should be a low impedance type, often known as "suitable for switch mode power supply".

I’ve got this same problem on the LG 1715S... I can’t fix it but I know a work around that you can use every time you use your computer.
From the back of your computer remove the cable going into your video card ... wait a few seconds (you should see a diagnostics message on the screen).... Then put the cable back in again and the monitor should work.

This is just a workaround but at least you don’t have to bin your monitor.

Hi, I have just repaired one of these with the same problem. Turned out to be a 680uf 25v capacitor that had failed. Capacitor was visibly domed. Easy repair with new capacitor. Hope this helps.

Heat up the internal of the monitor with a hair dryer. After a minute or two when the internal parts are getting warm the minitor starts after pressing the on of. You can have a hair dryer mounted permantetly to the monitor as I have. Then i run the hait dryer five minutes before I use the computer.

This can be the main power supply, or back plane power supply, or back plane lamps. The monitor would have to be opened up and troubleshooted to determine where the failure is.

It is very possible that the monitor may not be worth to service. You should get an estimate from the authorised service rep to make the decision.

Either you have a faulty monitor which hopefully the manufacturer can warranty or you have a faulty video card, or an improper connection to the video card. Check to make sure the cord is secure in the port of your computer.

Hi I have a samsung syncMaster 920N The screen has suddenly gone blank - the power light is showing. I have a second identical monitor and have swapped cables but no difference Is it a repairable fault?...

This happened to me a few months back. I removed all cables and left it for 2 days. Switched back on on it worked fine. That is until yesterday when half the screen went black. I found that my driver was out of date. I have undated the driver but have decided to leave it off and unplugged for another day.
You could try this. You say you have another monitor, i would suggest using it for a few days and the try the old one again.

Fixya:
My IE 8 loads the correct odds on the tote-board and then suddenly the odds go blank.
I have to click down to another track and then click back up to get the odds working again.
The issue happens again at another track that I click on. Forces me to go through the same proccess over again.
This bug related issue is very aggravating so if there is a fix I would appreciate it.

Screen Goes Blank

Ive seen this on other monitors. Look for a 1 and 2. Some monitors do NOT auto detect a signal, and this one might not. Look for a way to set the monitor from Digital input to VGA input. Try that and see.

Change out C202- 680 uF 25 Volt electrolytic capacitor. Replace with 25 volt or higher. Observe proper polarity when replacing cap: (-) goes to the side with the black mark, check old cap before removing it to see. I just fixed the same monitor today.

Screen displays fine for a second, then goes blank

Dor, BenQ has a 3yr warranty on their monitors. I would contact their tech support and receive an RMA to return it for repair. It will cost you shipping out there but they will ship it back. I has a BenQ FP731 myself and it blew a capacitor inside that allowed the screen to stay on. Fixed it and had it back in 5-7 days. Good luck.
