SOURCE: Whining noise from freezer
The problem is that the ice maker leaks ice often, and it collects around the fan, making the fan inoperable. This causes the whine noise. The only solution is to chip the ice away in the back by the fan, which requires emptying the freezer. This is the worst refrigerator we have ever owned.

I would suggest that you put the new water filter back in and try dispensing water for about ten minutes. If there is still a high pitched noise then you could try bleeding the water line at different points along the water circuit (with control over the incoming supply). The fact that you are forcing water through the tank should normally resolve any air locks. The water filter could also be bled of air. Hope this is of some help.

I have a hotpoint HSS25GFPJWW fridg. The coil that opens the flapper door for the ice was bad so i replaced it . Now when i push the leaver in to get ice the fridge shut's down like ther is a large power drain. This was doing this before i replaced the coil but the flapper door was not opening then now it opens. It evens shut's the compressor off.

After checking all of that..
Try unplugging it for a couple of minutes then plug it back in. I found on my 27ft Amana side by side that the defrost control is controlled by a microcontroller based module near the bottom of the fridge. It was out in la-la land and in my case, was not defrosting the freezer coils. Cycling the power reset it and all was well.
Worth a shot. Good luck.

The buzzing noise is the compressor stalled and trying to start. Is the condensor fan working? (the fan at the back by the compressor) as if it's not it could cause this issue. If the rest of the unit is in good condition then yes I'd replace the compressor as these are normally good models and aren't cheap to buy new. This problem shouldn't happen again if you have a good new compressor installed by an expert. cheers
