Question about HP Pavilion DV2620US Notebook

1 Answer

I have a hP pavillion dv2620us. I get an intermittent black screen whenever I use the laptop. During normal use, the laptop screen just goes dark/black. There is still power to the laptop and you can sort of see the screen if you look closely or look from a different angle. I've researched the problem and can pin point what the exact problem is. However, something that has worked for me is powering it down, putting it in the refrigerator for about a minute then restarting the laptop. This sort of indicates to me that i have a heating issue with the laptop. I've returned the laptop to factory defaults because I thought it was a virus problem but that didn't seem to solve the problem

1. Test using an external monitor. If it works, then either the screen bulb or the inverter board might be defective.
2. Test the inverter board. Easiest way to do it if you have a good screen with a good bulb. Connect the good screen to the inverter board & test it. If it lights up, then the inverter board is good. If it did not, then the inverter board is bad & needs to be replaced.
3. If the inverter board is good, then we are left with the possibility that the screen bulb is bad. To fix this, we will need to replace the LCD screen.

My HP Pavillion G6 laptop screen goes black if not tilted in two certain positions

Sounds like the cable feeding the inverter is either faulty or has a bad connection. You will need to take the laptop to bits. See utube video.

My hp pavillion goes to black screen (no signal) intermittently and emit a beep tone

The video graphics card is one of the main problems with the HP line, it gets to hot causing the solder to break down. But I would test with a monitor on the video output to be sure.

My HP Pavillion DV6000 laptop starts up fine and after a few minutes the screen turns black. I can still see the desktop image in the background but barely. If I reboot the screen looks normal again but...

That means your backlight is going out. The fact that it's happening intermittently like that suggests that you have a faulty screen inverter (a small circuit behind the screen that converts DC power to AC, in order to light the florescent backlight).
I suggest replacing it. Here are some on abay for pretty cheap:

Hp pavillion laptop screen goes black

its the common problem with graphic card, if its nvedia chipset graphic, there is only one temp solution, ask any hardware machanics to put a glue and heat the display ic, then it would work for a week, in that period buy the amc from hp service centre, after a week if there is a prob, company will have to replacd the motherboard
