On the right side should be a blue colored lever. Depress this while lifting up on the bottom of the toner cartridge. This should allow you to remove it.

Where is the cartridge on a brother laser printer HL-1400

I don't see a Brother HL-1400 on their site. However, there is an HL-1440 which uses the TN-430 (regular) or TN-460 (high yield) toner cartridges. This printer also takes the DR-400 drum unit.

This toner cartridge works with several models in the HL-1400 series, including the HL-1435, HL-1440, HL-1450 and HL-1470N.

I hope this helps.

  1. Ensure the printer is turned on and otherwise ready to print.
  2. Press the front cover release button to open the front cover of the printer.
  3. Remove the drum unit with the toner cartridge installed from the printer.
  4. Now re-install the drum unit and installed toner cartridge slowly but firmly.
  5. Press and hold the Go button until Drum Clear appears.
  6. Close the front cover of the printer.
The "Replace Drum" message should now have disappeared and the LED no longer lit allowing you to continue printing

How do i remove the drum?

Open the front hatch, grab a good hold on the assembly inside. Lift up and pull towards you firmly. The drum and toner assembly will slide out together. Separate the toner and drum unit by pressing down on the coloured tab and lift the toner (TN) up and out. The drum is the part labelled DR.

I can't get the TN-360 toner into the printer.

Open the front toner door and remove the toner/drum assembly. There should be a small green tab to depress that will release the toner cartridge. The new toner should click in the same way the old one came out. Now the entire assembly goes back in the machine and you're done! if you have any questions.

Change drum

You need to go buy a Brother DR-350 drum unit cartridge. The drum unit is the thing that the toner cartridge (TN-350) clicks into. Pull out the drum/toner unit and separate the two halves. Place your TN-350 into the new DR-350 cartridge and put back in the printer.

Brother MCF-7340 first time toner replacement

If this model comes with the drum separately of the cartridge, only replace the cartridge. There's no need to change it every time. until prints start to get lines or dots. Don't expose the drum to light too much.

Toner for fax machine 2920

If your machine is a Brother Intellifax 2920, it does take a TN-350 toner cartridge. Maybe you were wanting to replace the Drum Unit instead, DR-350. I'll bet this info is useful, yes?

Printer catridge

If you just want to REPLACE the toner cartridge, open the front door and jiggle the combined toner & drum units out. push down on a blue tab on the side to release the TN-350 toner cartridge and lift it out of the DR-350 drum cartridge. If you have the toner cartridge out and want to refill it you7rself, DON'T. You can buy toner with about the right size grains, but Brother uses toner with grains that are much smoother and rounder than that aftermarket stuff. The toner is constantly stirred during the print process, and the rough-grained aftermarket toner puts up so much resistance that it often breaks a gear in the body of your MFC. Brother usually doesn't cover that one in their warranty.

Black streaks on printout page

It sounds like excess toner has built up in or around the imaging drum. I would *carefully* remove the toner and drum (can be messy) and use some canned air to clean the inside out. If you are still getting these streaks, it might be time to get a new drum (DR 400) as you are supposed to replace the drum every 6 to 8 times you change the toner cartridge.
