Rv ac compresser

vehicular airconditioning systems have issues with leakage of R-134a. Check your pressures while unit is running, low side should read about 70 psig. if much lower than that, purge system and add as prescribed on the labeling. might want to use a leak detecting variety so you can see where you are losing refrigerant.

I own a coleman EB15B cental heat and air unit, it stopped working two days ago, I replaced the fan and a new motor but the unit still will not blow cold or hot air when I set the temperature. The unit has...

You need to make sure the compressor is running. If the compressor is NOT running , the fan will turn but there will be no cold air. If the compressor is not running, check all the wiring to make sure a wire is not burnt off. Pull the fuses before inspecting.
If the compressor IS running, you may be low on refrigerant. If you have a set of guages to check the pressure you can find out if it is low on refrigerant or not. If it is an older refig 22 system the low pressure side will read about 65 lbs on a 80 degree day. If you have no experience in this, you may need to call a service tech to check it for you.

What is the a/c charging pressure on roof top r/v units?

The easiest way to charge a unit is to add freon to the low side until the line sweats and the coil is sweating top to bottom. The pressure depends on the wet bulb temp on the low side line the ambient temp outside and the intake temp inside the
RV. A good unit will start to sweat between 50 to 78 pounds on the low side. good luck

My a/c unit will start but after a few minutes it will make a noise and stop. Then if I wait awhile and turn it on again it does the same thing.

It may have a low charge. A/C units have a safety that's called a low pressure control. When the unit runs the compressor will **** down the gas pressure and cause it to shut off. After time the system will balance out and the pressure on the low side will go back up. This will cause the compressor to come back on. The other thing that comes to mind is the compressor motor might be shutting off on overload and turning back on after it cools. These are first things I would look at. Always make sure your air filter is clean.

Sanyo split high pressure side tube icing

ok, on these units, if by high side line you mean the small tube going from outside to inside, that tube is actually on the low side, the metering device is in the outdoor unit. If you shut the unit down, let everything thaw then restart and find that small tube is freezing up right at the outdoor unit right away, my guess is its low on charge. I see that you put some in, make sure it is the right knid of refrigerant. they do not hold alot. Where is your suction pressure running. If you put 2 to 3 pounds with no change, you may have overcharged but that is telling you that there is a restriction in the line inside the outdoor unit, probably the filter if it has one, or the metering device itself. Let me know what you find.

High side low side pressures don not respond to freon levels

Chances are you have a TXV already installed. Thats why simply adding refridgerant is not effecting the pressures.

All you are doing by adding refridgerant is overcharging the unit, and possibly forcing the compressor to try to pump liquid instead of vapor. Not god for the compressor.

If the vibration noise is your only problem, I would try emilinating the vibration.
Find where the lineset is touching other parts of the house and install vibration dampening opads there. If the airahndler is mounted to the structure of the house, install vibration reduxction pads there too. If it is suspended from the floor joists you may have to change that mounitng method.

You can suspend the drain overflow pan and then set the unit in that on dampening pads, or set it on blocks from the floor/crawlspace.

Check your data sticker to find out how many pounds of refridgerant the unit takes.

By now, you are probably way overcharged.

COMPRESOR TROUBLESHOOTING

This is a typical symptom of having an A/C system low on freon if it cycles on and off when first turned on or very soon afterward. All types of A/C units for home and auto have a low pressure cut-out switch that will disengage the compressor when the freon level drops low enough to cause damage to the compressor. The unit needs recharging with the proper amount of freon to correct the problem. If it's an automobile A/C system and the freon level is okay, it could be a faulty compressor clutch or coil.
