Question about Toshiba TEC B-SX4 Thermal Label Printer

Hi, my sx4 printer keeps giving me a ribbon eror messages and isn't printing...what can I do? i already tried putting in a new ribbon but still doesn;t work.

Put some paper on the ribbon cord and try printing.

Poor print quality


Several checks:
- Just saying...Ribbon sometimes is placed in the wrong sense and it doesn't print.
- Verify the settings at printer driver. Download a powerful Driver from here: http://www.nicelabel.es/downloads/nicelabel-designer-pro/?uid=10004, and test the darkness option by printing with different measures at each time.
- If that doesn't work, we can check it again, but you should first test this options.

Printer SX4 - Just changed Head, When printing the head is rubbing on the ribbon causing streaks on labels, the leaver is in the right posistion too.


Need to use the correct Ribbon.
It's near edge head technology. Do not use ribbons for flat head technology and yu'll have less problems

Printer printed 5 tags but there is wrinkles in the tags so i tried to realign the ribbon and now it will not print


Ribbon wrinkles are due to:
- Ribbon too large.
- Print Head misaligned.
- To much heat.
- innapropriate Transfer film.
check with your tag dealer

There is usually a setting in your label software or printer driver that lets you choose between thermal transfer printing or direct thermal printing. Make sure your setting is on direct thermal.

I have a TEC SX4 printer and im trying to convert the machine to print on thermal labels without a ribbon.. I don't know how to do it! Can anyone help me please


Quite simple.
- Remove the ribbon
- in the support tab of the driver select direct thermal.
- Send a test print to the printer.

Hi Gerry..I was looking for a solution to another problem and saw yours... Maybe you can increase the temperature of the sensor. To do this, go to the menu <3>ADJUST SET, look for "TONE ADJ<T>" if you are using "Thermal Transfer" or "TONE ADJ<D>" whether you're using "Direct transfer" and increase one of this values: +5 should be good... After many efforts I have found that in the new PX6i models, the "transfer ribbon mechanism" (the wheel that is responsible for making the ribbon roll) appears to be defective. What happens is that when rolling back in order to keep the ribbon stretched, instead of stopping at the fixed point, it continues to roll back a bit. After a few prints, this causes an "out of ribbon" error.
The solution: replace this part with a VALID part (a new one).

Paper jam error message


This problem is a detection problem, due to a bad sensor selection or incorrect label size.

If the labels are white labels with a separation between each, select TRANSMISSIVE. If the labels are preprinted, select the TRANSMISSIVE PREPRINTED LABELS and set the threshold doing this.

With the printer in ONLINE, press PAUSE once, the message PAUSE appears in the display, press and hold on the PAUSE key, TRANSMISSIVE is displayed, release the key and press PAUSE until labels starts to feed, let feed some labels (5 or 6) and release the key. Press Restart and start to print.

Datacard sp55 printer won't recognize ribbon


PR-01726 Ribbon Out
Out of print ribbon.
Possible Cause 1 : The print ribbon Cartridge is empty.

Solution 1 : Reload the print cartridge. Change the cleaning sleeve and replace the cartridge in the printer. Run a cleaning card as soon as printing is completed.

Possible Cause 2 : The printer ribbon is not loaded correctly.
Soultion 2 :Load the printer ribbon correctly and then close the cover.

Possible Cause 3 : This ribbon has been completely used.
Solution 3 : Use a new roll of ribbon.

Tips for Success
* When this message appears, replace the old ribbon with the new ribbon of the same type. The printer has already prepared the card data for this ribbon type. You can change the colors of monochrome ribbon (such as from dark blue to gold).

* If you must change the type of ribbon (such as (YMCKT to KT) when this message appears, install the new ribbon, cancel any cards waiting to print, and change the ribbon type settings. Finally, return to the card creation program to send the card data to print.

* If the ribbon was repaired, the wrong take-up spool was used. Repair the ribbon again, using the correct take-up spool.

If you cannot fix the problem contact your service provider for assistance.

New Printer - Issue with installing printhead


first of all.. make sure that you remove the packing material from the cart or print heads and put them in properly.
then also if it it gives the same probem then try it with the old print heads.. if it doesnt gives any eror with the old ones then replace the new ones..
new ones are bad..
return them to store
