Question about Computers & Internet

Open Question

I have an Acer veriton T661, it has been taking an increasingly long time to boot. It often fails approx. one step before it loads Windows Vista. I've checked the motherboard and discovered that four of the capacitors are bulging.2 are between the Pci-e slot and the CPU cooler and the other 2 are located between the RAM and board power input. Does this finding mean my mobo is about to fail?

I found this for you. Open it with Adobe Reader or the like.
From what I read, it should run!
It could be you damaged the RAM cards. But that's just one possibility.
And don't mix and match cards. They should BOTH be the same size or you're going to wreck something lol.
Hope I helped in any way, post a comment to let me know.

SOURCE: Acer Veriton M464 E4700 2.6Mhz cpu upgrade on MCP730 Mobo

Go to www.newegg.com and whatever you want to upgrade click on that item and match it up with your current board (by looking at the specifications and matching them). I suggest to buy a new mobo and all new processors and ram. You can use your old case, hard drive and all that good stuff that is removable.

SOURCE: I have recently upgraded my brothers Acer T180

Some motherboards are only upgradable to their allotted amount that board may only handle up to 2 gigs of RAM which is a shame. But this is the way it is. That is why I always check the board memory capacity before I buy computer boards or RAM for them. The beeps indicate error on the slots for the RAM that is why you can start up when you remove ram one at a time and replace. So use the allotted amount of RAM for that board specification or get another mother board that can handle more than 2 gigs of RAM. Sorry for the loss. Thanks for using FixYa! John

Actually Its a Operating system problem. What you need is to boot from a Windows Vista or Windows 7 disk.
1. Boot up using windows 7 disk and you will be getting windows is loading files roadfox_60.jpg
2. Select the keyboard layout

3. Keep on hitting next until you will be getting this screen. Choose Startup Repair. Then keep on hitting next until the computer prompts you to restart. If all things fails repeat steps 1 to 3 choose System restore this time.

Windows will not boot on acer 5315 notebook

As the unit will not boot at, i am afraid you are going to have to do a recovery which will also wipe any data on the notebook.
To run a recovery make sure it is powered off then power on, as soon as you power on you must tap the left Alt + F10 keys together at the same time, now timing is important and can take several attempts before you enter the recovery manager. Keep tapping the keys at approx every half a second or so and wait for a message at the bottom of the screen which will state " Windows is loading files" then you can stop tapping. A new screen may appear after that which will state " edit windows boot options: for windows setup or it may say acer e-recovery" if this screen appears then simply press the enter key, you will then enter the Acer e-recovery manager which will then ask you "How would you like to restore?" select the first option for a factory default reset, hope this helps.

Acer loops booting

Hi,
The problem is caused by bad drivers not being able to load up, when you are in safe mode perform a system restore and take the computer back to a date before the problems arose, the computer should boot up fine once system restore is complete.

Good luck

How to restore acer extensa5220 notebook back to its original set

From Acer direct

The other way before Vista starts up is to tap ALT + F10 (at the same time repeatedly) when the computer is first switched on.. The window of opportunity is very small, so this may take a few attempts

Once you have tapped both the ALT and F10 repeatedly, you may see a screen showing:

“Edit Boot options for Microsoft Windows Vista”

If you see this, unfortunately, you have missed the window of opportunity, and you need to restart, and try again.

If you see this:
“Edit Boot options for Windows Setup” OR “Edit Boot options for Acer eRecovery”

Then it indicates that you have tapped the ALT + F10 correctly, and all you now need to do is press “Enter” and the Recovery program should load on your screen after a short pause..

In some cases, you may need to remove the battery (for notebooks only) and run the machine directly from the mains.

The Disk2Disk recovery feature allows you to recover the system without recovery CDs.

This will return your system to factory settings and will delete everything stored on the machine.
If possible we strongly advise backing up anything important on your machine before starting the recovery process.

My machine is Acer Aspire M7711 preinstalled with Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium.CPU Q8300, Geforce GTX 130, 600GB Default RAID Mode, 4GB Memory. My problem is Vista Home Premium Installation...

Im assuming its a new machine and when you first booted Vista failed. When you boot up, press the F10 key. This will take you to a menu to start your Acer machine from the begining. It takes a while for the first complete boot. I hope this answers your question. If not, post back and we'll diagnose your problem again. Best of luck!

A system restore would correct the problem perhaps upon boot try f8 I believe or f2 I forget with vista and try booting in safe mode, if windows can't correct itself reload.

Windows startup problem

yep!! yogi's answer is right.. maybe you have some startup items that requires a lot of memory to load up.. well, you can remove those startup items by running msconfig. on the startup tab, try to uncheck all those items that you don't want to startup.. this sure would help you speed up the loading process..
