Is this after downloading the upgrade or after the initialization of player to factory default?

You only need the *.frm file (I think its called PANA_DVD.FRM) to be burnt onto the disc and you *must* finalize the disk .

It should be on a CD (I don't know if DVD will work), and the drive select on the DMR-E85 should be set to DVD and not HDD.

I have the 3 RCA red, yellow, white cables on back of dvd and to tv. Video only plays when I select video 1 under the input. When when I select video 3 only sound and no video. What else can I try?

Sounds like from the symptoms that you have plugged the white and red cables into AV3 input on the back of the Teleivsion and plugged the yellow cable into AV1 on the back of the Television.
Check the cables are all plugged into AV1 input ports on the back of the Television. Red and White go into the Audio inputs and Yellow goes in the video input. Also make sure you have not plugged cables into component inputs on television look for AV1 in on back of Television .

hi,
Try any one of the following code.
20490, 20573, 20820, 21075, 20899

Progarmminig procedure

The AV1 and AV2 switch position can be used to program a

VCR, DVD, STEREO, 2nd DIRECTV Receiver or 2nd TV with

the following instructions.

1. Turn on the component (e.g. DVD Player) you wish to

program.

3. Move the slide switch under the AV1 (or AV2) icon.

4. Press and hold the MUTE and SELECT keys at the same

time until the green light under AV1 (or AV2) flashes

twice and then release both keys.

5. Using the number keys enter the 5-digit code for your

brand of component being programmed. If performed

correctly the green light under TV will flash twice.

6. Aim the remote at your component and press the power

key once. The component should turn off. If it does not

turn off, repeat steps 3 and 4 trying each code for your

brand until you find the correct code.

7. Repeat steps 1 through 6 to program a new component

under AV2 (or AV1).

No adio

Picture but no sound is common and there are loads of ways this could happen.

Check red and white cables haven't been swapped and are in the right places in both machines, tv and source. A good way to test is to make sure red cord is in red input on tv and that the correct AV channel is on (ie you have picture) then try each output from source (DVD player, sky, etc). If none give you joy there could be a problem with the AV channel you're using so switch to another, ie change from AV1 to AV2, and then start again.

DVD is hook up and no picture on the TV.

You have to make sure that the RCA cables are properly connected to the TV. Check the TV/Mode if it's set to AV1 (Audio/Video1) or AV2. You may check the TV remote to set it to AV1 or AV2.

From the DVD, the cable should be connected to OUT. And on the TV...video and audio should be connected to IN.

Intermintant in recording

Hi,not shure if this is your problem but if you are recording shows from tv & you are in av2 of output you will have no recording even though it shows that the recording has begun, all tv recordings must be in the av1 output mode to record from tv I have learned that few times thinking that all is working but to find out that I was in the av2 output mode which was really not recording the whole time, before I begin any recordings I from now on check that I am in the av1 mode then I know the recording will be working, take care ECK

Can't switch from AV2 to AV1 with Samsung DVD-VR375 DVD Recorder / VCR Combo

To be able to select AV1, you have to first go into the setup menu and set the control set top box setting to OFF. I think you go to the menu >> setup >> features >> set top box control >> select OFF. Note that this has the side effect of erasing any previously stored timer settings.

Panasonic dmr-ea38v vertical static

I would start by checking which scart leads are in which connections and check which av channel you have the player on.
e.g. AV1 connected to the TV, AV2 connected to the decoder.
Then the DVD player viewing/recording channel should be on AV2 not AV1. Does he have any high powered/frequency devices close by?
