Even though it's small, it's still a TV with a standard tuner. So you could use it with a converter box if you really wanted to. You would need to connect the box to the TV's external antenna connector with an appropriate adapter. Then the TV would stay on channel 3 (or 4) while you change channels through the converter box. But just like any other set without the new tuner, once the regular broadcasting ends it won't be able to pick up digital channels.

SOURCE: will my handheld tv work after feb

Hello lavillavicto,

Look at you owners manual if the tuner format is ATSC (digital standard) then it's ok, if it is NTSC (analog standard) then it will not work. My experience tells me that the answer to your question is no, because most of these units were made with NTSC tuners. I know this is not what you want to hear but it is the truth.

I hope this helps,

Thank you,

TV displays "no signal" with every input type we try. The only thing that works is the DVD. I even tryed it on a cable cord that was working from another TV

hello are you using a digital antenna, cable or satelite reception? you need to run your "set up" and scan for channels either automatically scan or manual scan, recomend a auto scan for all channels both digital and anolog, these tv will scan and save or store the channels but you need to run a channel scan first,
(even if your using a cable box or sat box)
back when we had the older anolog sets you could just plug it in and watch but with these new digital circuts need to scan and store the channels in before you can watch the broadcasts,, try that let me know what happens. hope this helps

You will need to hook up a digital TV tuner to the device.
Goto dtv2009.com to request coupons for new tuners if you live in the US.

Yes , this will switch the digital back to anolog so your set will still receive your channels . The cutoff date is Feb. 19th 2009 so you have alittle time left. The boxes will avg. between $50 to $190 or more depending on what you what the box to do . Also there are coupons available from the goverment for rebates that will give you $40.00 off the purchase price , go to your post office for more info . Good luck
