Being new, take it back for a different one or take it in for warranty repair.

It's highly probable that the Dyson power switch has gone bad.
You can buy dyson dc14 switch here.
The switch is located right behind the front covering of the neck or handle when you remove the telescopic wand. Please make sure that the vacuum is unplugged before you start this project.

Take off the power cord from its two hangers, depress the coloured clip above the power switch and the wand will lift out along with the back telescopic hose.

Ive a dyson DC05 in perfect working order, but the telescopic tube and the handle are broken, how much roughly should it cost to replace them? And does anywhere sell second hand parts?

Hi there SmartAlec from NelsonVacuums.com.au your post doesn't say where you are from but if you are in Australia then the rod is about $50 and the handle $20. If you are looking for second hand then ebay is your best bet. Be aware though that it is a really common problem so if you are buying one second hand check that the latches and plastic end bits aren't cracked. Alternatively the dc05 can be changed to using normal 32mm vacuum handle and rods, it wont have the clips but it will be much cheaper.
Happy Vacuuming
Regards Alec

How do you put the telescopic wand down? Just got a new dyson 17 and I cant use it cause I cant get the dang wand down..

make sure your handle is snapped in all the way on to the machine, that will release the clip on the hose to allow for the wand to slide in.

Step on the floor head where the foot print is and pull the handle down.
