This refers to the "Hertz" which is the refresh rate of the monitor. You should refer to the manual and look under refresh. If not, you can select the different settings until satisfactory. A lower number is easier for the video card to handle, higher setting require more work for the card.

The dark rectangle appears because you have the closed captions on and set to TEXT. Closed captions set to CC1 puts the words on the screen and TEXT puts a black box on the screen. Go into the menu, navigate to the page with closed captions and set your captions to OFF.

What does it mean when a blue rectangle apears in one corner of the screen? Is a bul burned out?

Often this means that someone else has enabled the PIP or picture in picture mode and the blue rectangle is the other channel with no source attached. If this is the case , it is easily correctable in the menu area under picture options. Based on the information you have given, this seems the most likely.

If this is not the case, please describe the size of the rectangle and the activity preceeding its appearance and we will find another answer for you.
I hope this has been helpful, Regards,

Dark Translucent Rectangle appears in front of picture

Go into the customer menu and find the "closed captions" heading. Within the closed caption you will find "TEXT". If you turn off closed captions or the text, whichever you menu lets you do, your rectangle will go away. Hope this helps
