Scanning i cant scan from printer to laptop do i need to install software if so what?

No, there is no need of installaing any software.
Try to install the printer oce again using the following steps, it will definitely work:

  1. Click Start and then Printers and Faxes .
  2. Follow the steps in the Add Printer Wizard to add the print driver. Select HP from the list of manufacturers and then locate the all-in-one printer driver or fax driver (if your model can send and receive faxes from the computer) from the list of printers. The models will probably be near the bottom of the list.
  3. The printer port should be selected as the USB001 (Virtual printer port for USB) or the DOT4_00[x] HP (all-in-one series) printer port if the first port is not an option.
  4. Select the option to Keep existing driver when that choice displays.
  5. If prompted for a missing file, have the installation search for the file on the All-in-One CD-ROM.
  6. The installation should complete and a Congratulations screen should appear.

Hi there

for the canner to work, you have to install the printer with the CD that came with the printer. The installation software will setup the scanner so that you can scan by pressing the scan button on the printeror from the Lexmark Productivity Suite on your computer.

If you do not have the original CD, you must download the software from www.lexmark.combut be sure to download the full printer install, else the scanner will be installed.

We have a computer set up with Windows 7 and we cant scan from the printer to the computer or vise vera....any suggestions


Sure,

Find the make and modle of the scanner/printer combo and install the driver software from the maufacture website. This will help big time.

Without software that scan button is just a hotkey that points to nothing. You need software to scan. If you have software and it still does not scan then you got a hardware issue that needs to be diagnosed after witch your model number ad make would go a long way here on Fixya.com.

I recently bought a Canon PIXMA MX320 all in one printer with my macbook. It works fine, but I can't figure out how to scan an image onto my laptop.


You need to control the scanner through your PC with canon software that came with your scanner otherwise you cant scan anything..first open the printer/scanner software ,select scanner,then place your document and command "scan" from the software.

I cant scan pictures to my laptop it just keeps saying connecting to pc but never uploads


Do you have the full featured software installed on the computer and set up with the default destinations? Is the monitoring program listening for the scan button being pressed? Can you launch a scan from the computer? Uninstall a generic OS driver that you may have installed and disconnect the data cable (if USB) before attempting to install the full software.

Try a new data cable (scanning requires bi-directional communication and can fail even when the printer works). Try a direct connection if you have a print server or a USB hub in place. Try using a different port and check if a known working device works as well.

Next launch the scan from the computer. Depending on your software, you may see a preview scan. Adjust the settings and try to get the full scan. If you get a failure at this point, it is frequently a cable issue.

Scan function might be not working, having no scan software installed.
1. Download software plus updates for your printer.
On the support page select:
Software & Driver Downloads
Operating System
> Download the Full Feature Software: this should contain software for
both printer and scan functions, to a location on the computer
> Download updates, to a location on the computer
2. Detach the printer from the computer: take out the USB cable.
3. Uninstall the software for the F380.
4. Install the full feature software plus updates for the printer.
5. Do not connect the printer until installation has finished or only when a message shows up, during installation, to power up the printer and connect the USB cable.

My Officejet Pro 8500 won't scan, says "no scan options"


Kindly install the scanner software for printer the driver software cd just re install it will install the scanner software and make sure in device manger there is not other usb device listed if it is there just remove it. And refresh it in will automatically install the driver.

Please install the printer software and try to scan via the installed software from the computer. Or, start scan using scan button from printer; after installing software.

Cant scan??


if installed right it should bring up the program on computer when you change printer to scan and hit start. should be able to select computer on scanner after you switch function to scan on printer.

Scanning using the DX8400 printer


Hi,

You need to install the Epson Scanner Driver on your computer. The best way to do this is to install the sotware using the easy install facility. When the software installation has completed you will dind an Epson scan icon on your desktop. Double click this icon to run the scanner software.

The document to be scanned must be placed face down on the DX8400 glass just as making a copy, The scanning functions are all accessed from the PC.

--- actually there are a lots of reasons why you cant scan or your scanning features stop working...
-- first is the scanning software is not installed properly
-- second is the connection
