By referring to "hub", do you mean the string head at the end or the round metal clutch drum at the end of the crankshaft? Post back as I would like to help.

All I need to know is how to change the belt on a Craftsman 22 inch Weed Trimmer. #917.773710. Can't find the manual. Didn't think it would be this difficult to have such an easy question answered....

You can find a diagram for your mower here. You should be able to remove the top cover, then loosen the tensioner pulley and pull the belt right off. Put your new belt on following the original belt path. You can find a replacement belt at here.

Craftsman line trimmer difficult to start but when I get it going it stalls after a minute or so. Sometimes before it stalls, it revs up other times it just slowly loses power and stalls. Can anyone...

I'm not sure the make of your carburetor, but it probably just needs a slight adjustment of the L (Low) and H (High) mixture needles. All diaghragm carbs are about the same. If you can access them, try removing them and spraying the circuits with carb cleaner and replace them at about 1 1/2 turns open from a lightly seated position. Don't mix them up. Here is the final adjustment.

How to I change the spring for the start-cord on a Craftsman Sim-pul weed wacker? p/n 530-059225

A bit of disassembly will be required for you to reach the point where you can access the starter/recoil unit. If you already have done so, it will be evident that you have to take the unit out, remove the old spring, install the new spring (paying special attention to the orientation of it in the pulley hub) and reinstall. Torx fasteners hold most all of the parts on this machine. If you take your time and don't rush it, it is not too bad. Check this site with your Make and model # for parts diagrams and breakdowns. or go to if you like.

Hello kane8:

**To Hold the Crankshaft for Removal of the Clutch (or Any Component that Turns with the Crankshaft); Purchase a Bolt that is 3" to 4" Long and has the Same Diameter and Threads as the Spark Plug. Carefully Insert the Bolt Into the Engine Until it Contacts the Piston. If the Bolt is too Short, then Slowly Turn the Engine in the Same Direction you are Going to be Turning the Clutch Until the Piston Contacts the Bolt. Now to Remove the Clutch. If you do Not have the Clutch Tool for an Impact Wrench and are Doing this By Hand (no air compressor and/or not the correct socket), then Use a 2" Wide, Flat Chisel and a Shop Hammer or a 22oz Hammer and Hit the Outer Part of the Thick Ear in the Same Direction that the Engine Turns During Operation.**
Please, Do Not Hesitate, If I Missed Something or you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem, I am Here if You Require More Assistance.
Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Be Safe and Be Happy. Thanks.

Good Luck
