Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

R50w47 no audio no video

Look for resistors or fuse devices associated to the convergence circuit--if one of the chips shorted it will open a part--set detects no voltage and shuts down automatically.

R56w36 convergence problem. color misaligned. Ghosts.

Dear Sir:

Thank you for contacting fixya.

Please follow the steps below.

green is fixed so you have to move red and blue to green.
by using the remote you may find a simple converge function and open this and using arrow keys move the blue or red first to center of screen, repeat for other color you should see the lines moving toward a a white center point.

if the lines do not move with remote try manual ...menu on the set. if still no movement you have a problem on the convergence board and need a tech to fix.

A service manual will explain complex convergence to the detail .
but this might take hours to get it right.

Please feel free to get back to me If you need any further assistance.
Regards,
Mohammed.

Convergence was bad. Before kit was used no audio or video

It says Zenith here and if different let me know----if the convergence failed and took a resistor or fuse device (not a glass fuse) out the set will be dead--set detects no voltage to that area and shuts down for protection.

Colors are misaligned on my zeneth r50w46 and the auto convergence option did not solve the problem. the red droops off on the left side of the screen and the green droops across the top center.

Your convergence IC's are out and this is why you can't use the auto or manual convergence. This type of repair done at a verified Zenith service shop most likely will run you $400.00 to $500.00 dollars. However, if you have some electronic skills and are familiar with soldering and de-soldering, you can do the repair yourself for around $85.00 to $100.00. You will need to buy a convergence repair kit which has all the parts you need and gives pretty straight forward instructions. Plus, if you run into trouble, they have online support. Here is the link for the convergence kit.

http://servicemanuals.vstore.ca/product_info.php/pName/zenith-r50w46-r57w46-convergence-repair-kit

This is not really a hard task to do. It usually takes about 2 to 3 hours from start to finish if you take your time and make sure you follow the instructions to the letter.

Again, if you don't have any sort of electronic skills, it is always better to have the unit serviced by a professional.

Good luck!

Convergence chips and resistors

In order to assist further, more information is required. You indicate that there are some discolored resistors on the board. There should be a marking on the board at each location like: Rxxx Where the xxx is a number. If you can post the numbers here for the parts that are discolored, I can look them up in the service manual for you.

Thanks,
Dan

Adjust Convergence on Zenith B27A11Z

You don't adjust convergence through a service mode on one of these sets. With a conventional CRT, convergence is done by physically adjusting the convergence rings on the neck of the tube, and the position of the deflection yoke near the bell. You would also need a crosshatch generator to provide the required test pattern for adjustment.
