Question about Gateway Solo 5300 Notebook

Will not turn on

All of a sudden my laptop screen turned blue, then prepared to hibernate. Once I turned the system off, it is refusing to turn back on. Only the power light and the battery light show, not even the fan runs or any other light will turn on.

Laptop Doesn't Turn On At All

To take out of hibernation, press the power button for less than 1 second.
Then go into the control panel and disable hibernation as described below.

Disable the your mouse's "ability to wake up computer" in device manager.
Use keyboard to wake up your computer.

Click Start > Control Panel > Performance and Maintenance > Power Options > Hibernate tab.
Then clear the Enable Hibernation check box.

If this doesn't resolve the issue,Please post back.

Please rate this a fixya.

Satellite pro - preparing to hibernate can't get it to come on

You have to go to the display properties in the control panel. Once there, click on screen saver then power. Once that window opens, there is a hibernation tab, and you can shut it off.

My laptop does not fully hibernate!

Unfortunately , hibernation issues are tough to pin down.

See this link

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/907477

Basically says , meh could be anything.

One thing you can do to narrow it down is to go to Start > My Computer > RIGHT click on My Computer > click Manage > expand Event Viewer > Click on Applications and see if you have any Red ! around the time it was supposed to be hibernating.

If you see a message like "application hang" you can try uninstalling and reinstalling that particular app.

An easier way is to use a program called smart shutdown.

http://lifehacker.com/5046541/smart-shutdown-offers-more-ways-to-turn-off-your-pc

This program will kill any unresponsive programs and keep trying to hibernate until successful.

Hope this helps. Good luck!

When starting it says windows is preparing to hibernate, can't do a recovery..

Just a suggestion... try booting the machine into safe mode (to avoid hibernation). Then, once in safe mode, disable hibernation. Restart computer, and it should restart normally. Then, if you want to re-enable it, go for it. Otherwise, don't worry about it ;)

Let me know if this helps, and be sure to rate those who offer help :)
