Question about Freezers

Door on new Kenmore freezer hard to open ... could this be a leveling problem? I wouldn't think it is an ice build-up problem since the freezer was only installed last Friday (9/24) and the ice maker is not hooked up.

Check thoroughly for any obstructions, shipping tape, remaining pieces of plastic, in and around the doors, door frame, cabinet frame that the door contacts when closed, and around the upper and lower hinges. Do you hear any noises when opening or closing the door? Do you see the door rubbing on the inside liner as you open or close the door? Were the doors removed and replaced in moving? This last one, if it is the case, check the alignment at the upper hinges, loosen but dont remove the screws, and adjust the door away from center.

Kenmore upright freezer. About 15yrs old. For the last 5yrs we are have big build up of ice where the basket is we cant put anything in the basket, or it gets frozen in.model number is.C675-28732-1L

You mean it build up full of ice and no room for any thing...?
If so. Unplug it and let the door open for 24 hours then clean it up and plug back into power. You should be good for a while.

Good luck

Ice in the bottom of the freezer compartment

there should be a drain hole at the bottom of the freezer that goes to a evaporation pan underneath. check to see if the drain is clogged. in areas with high temps and or humidity there will be excessive moisture build up,the more the door is opened the more moisture (condensation). Clear the drain, it may just be blocked by ice, MAKE SURE THE UNIT IS LEVEL! This will let the moisture drain properly and prevent ice build up.

My Kenmore frost free freezer is not getting cold enough, door seals correct and it is leveled the compressor is cycling fine and there is no ice build up, help

Hey Betty,

One suggestion is to check and see if your freezer's gaskets are in need of replacement. Cracked, torn, warped gaskets can be the cause of not being able to keep the cold in. We have universal gasket kits for residential coolers and freezers just click here to view our options. Or give me a call and I'd be happy to help!

Kenmore freezer freezes up

By the movie you have an upright freezer. The worst type any body can own. Every time you open the door cold air flows out onto the floor and is replaced by room temp air that is heavy in humidity (water vapour). This freezes into ice and the more you open the door the more ice you will get. Also if the door gaskets(seals) are not perfect you will get the same result.

Icing up

I've just had a similar problem. I fixed it by removing the large panel on the back of the inside of the freezer. I found a large build up of ice at the bottom of the freezer which seems to have developed because the drain hole at the bottom of the freezer was blocked. I defrosted the ice, cleared the drain and now the freezer is working fine.

Ice crystals forming on inside front freezer panel

Very possible the door seal is not properly sealed. Warm inflowing air onto a cold coil will cause ice build up at the lid.

Ice maker icing up

Sounds like you may have a couple of problems here. The frost build up could be from a bad door seal. Moist air can be drawn in and collect on the inside. As for the water temp, it sounds like the water line connected to the refrigerator could be tapped off a hot water line. It needs to be connected to a potible cold water line.
