You have a crossed wire problem that will need to be fixed before the protect will drop off and allow you to use the stereo.

Have a kd-310 that is flashing "protect" and I've

If resetting the radio does not make "protect" go away, you either have a short or ground in your speakers and/or speaker wires, or you may have a blown output ic in the radio.

When ever i turn on my engine which means my kenwood kdc237 shud come on its just flashing protect protect protect no matter wot i press nothig happens need help cant do without music.

If protect is coming up on the display, it means the system is detecting a short somewhere on one of the speakers and so is turning the amp off to avoid damage.
Check all the connections at the back of the amp to ensure they are not shorting, and at the back of each speaker, if nothing is found there, check each wire for damage, or a bare wire touching the body of the car

The time is flashing on the screen and it continues to flash. Can't turn on the unit, change time, etc? It's like it is locked out somehow.....do I need to push a couple of different buttons to turn it on?...

Check the red key protect button on the front top left of the radio. If it is activated there will be a key icon on the screen. Press it once to deactivate it & the key icon should be gone & the rest of the buttons should work.

It is flashing the word protect on the screen

You have a shorted speaker wire or a blown speaker. The unit is protecting itself from damage. Did you install it? if so, pull the deck and check your connections. If they all seem fine, disconnect one speaker at a time, and turn on the radio. Make sure the radio speaker wires are taped so they don't short and cause more damage. Test each speaker wire until you find which one is causing the problem. Now re-connect all the other speakers and test. Next, disconnect the speaker wire right at the speaker that's giving you a problem, tape it off, then re connect it to the receiver. now test again. If all is ok, you have a bad speaker, if not run a test wire from the radio to the possible bad speaker and test again. If the speaker plays, you know what the problem is, replace the bad wire. Most often it's a door speaker wire or a wire got pinched during installation and took a while to short. Hope this helps

Solution is simple and no code is needed. Make sure all wirw are secures and not opening spliced. Ones verifying, make sure radio is turned off and reset the protect button.

The Protect Button is pin hole size and is located right above the headphone jack. Hence all shpuld be good from there on.

Reset

My stereo is flashing the work "PROTECT" across the front

In a Kenwood deck, "PROTECT" usually means that one of the speaker output wires is shorted. The first thing to do is pull the deck and inspect the wiring at the back, making sure there aren't any pinched or exposed wires. If a speaker wire is pinched against the deck chassis, or bare wire is touching dash metal, it can cause your problem. If you don't see anything obvious, disconnect all speaker wires from the deck, then turn it on. If it still flashes "protect", then you have a defect in the unit. If not, then re-connect the speakers one at a time until you find the one that causes it to go into Protect mode. Usually if you don't find a pinched or shorted wire behind the radio, the problem can be found at the speaker itself. This is especially common if you've installed after-market speakers; if a speaker terminal connection has come loose and is now touching the speaker basket or mounting surface, it will shut down the deck.
