According to the service manuals there is no memory upgrade for the 500 and standard memory is 16mb.. The 800 and 510 only have upgrade capability.

HOT TIP

To stop your CPU from constantly changing the paging file, set the initial and maximum size to the same value. For example, 500 and 500. The value should be at least 1.5 times more than your physical RAM. If your computer has 512MB of RAM increase the virtual memory paging file to 1.5*512= 768

Could be a bad capacitors. Open up the case and see if you have any bulging caps. The second thing I would try is to remove all the ram and reseat each ram stick. The 380 can be fickle about ram placement.

RAM RAM RAM...Thats the key here, Your Printer needs more RAM your PC needs more Ram... As much as you can fit in both. You see a Print job must be spooled, the only place it can, fast enough, is in RAM Memory, so if you have BIG files you need heaps of RAM especially in the printer, thats why it can take 32MB RAM, see? To "Print" a MB of data... you may need up to a triple that of scratch space.

Look at the label on your 512MB Ram stick. It should have the proper values noted. Then buy RAM that is the same except for MB. And be sure your computer can "see" the amount of RAM you want to install.
The RAM you plan to buy is for very new, powerful machines. It's a lot cheaper than the older RAM formats, but if your system is more than a year or two old, it will not work.
