First of all, you need to make sure your power adapter is providing enough power to both run the laptop & charge the battery. A very good way to do this is to compare your laptop voltage & ampere requirements (written on a sticker on the bottom of the laptop) with the voltage & ampere ratings of the power adapter. Voltages should be the same, or the power adapter's voltage about up to 0.5 volts more than the laptop's voltage rating. Amperage of the power adapter should be at least equal to or greater than the laptop's rating. It should never be less than the laptop's rating, or else the power adapter will be providing insufficient amperes to charge the battery. Of course, the power adapter's nominal amperage might be ok, but it degraded on usage. You can verify this by testing using a good or new power adapter.
If the battery did not charge using the new power adapter, take the battery off the laptop, & using a dry tooth brush, scrub in between the fins of the battery connector on the motherboard & on the battery it self, then put the battery back into the laptop & try again.
If this still did not resolve the problem, then the battery itself could be bad. Try it on another laptop, or try a good or new battery in your laptop.
If this did not work, there might be a possibility that the charging circuitry on the laptop's motherboard is defective & needs servicing. In order to do this, the laptop needs to be disassembled & the motherboard checked for defective/burned out components in the area near the DC jack. Any defective/burned out components found should be replaced, or you might need to replace the laptop's motherboard altogether

It is not charging

I recently had an Acer Aspire One that (after fully discharging) would no longer hold a charge. It worked fine when plugged in, but would turn off right after discharging. This is due to a BIOS error, and this article will show you how to update the BIOS to the official Acer revision 3309.

This article is meant for the AOA110 and AOA150 models ONLY, ingluding the ZG series of AOA110 and AOA150 netbooks.

1. On a separate computer, click here: http://gd.panam.acer.com/

2. Click Netbook -> Acer Aspire One -> AOA150 -> and then below, choose the "BIOS" tab.

3. Click the orange "Down" arrow to download the BIOS.

4. Open the .zip file and extract the two files: "3310.fd" and "Flashit.exe" onto your thumb drive. Rename "3310.fd" to "zg5ia32.fd"

5.Insert the thumb drive into your powered off Netbook.

6.Press and hold down the "Fn" and "Esc" keys and turn on the Netbook while still holding these keys for about 30 seconds, then let go.

7. Your Netbook should stay black for anywhere from 2-4 minutes or so. Once it restarts, safely remove your thumb drive, and charge it for a while. It should successfully hold a charge from now on.

I hope you find it very helpful. Thank you for using fixya.

Aspire one netbook 3 cell battery 8 months old only will charge to 80%

Hello,

Contact Acer and they will replace it free providing you can produce a proof of purchase less than one year old. Those netbooks have one year parts and labour warranty on them and Acer is very good about replacements like this.It shouldn't be a problem.

Hope this helps!

Regards,

Joe

Battery will not charge on netbook

Sounds like it may be an internal problem with the charge system on the laptop, if you can run the laptop with the AC cord but it will not charge, I suspect the charge module is bad.
May have to return it for repair.

How do i charge the acer battery

Hi patron,

The trouble you are having with your Acer One is a known issue with the programming on the motherboard, you can download a free fix and install it from Acer.

Go to www.acer.com then select your region, click on service and support, then drivers & downloads. Use the box menu to select Netbooks, Aspire One, then the model # on the bottom of your netbook.

It will display a list of drivers, above them in faint print click the BIOS tab. Your Bios upgrades will be listed there. Download the newest one and follow the onscreen instructions that come up.

Once you complete this process and reboot your netbook will start charging it's battery.

Netbook acer one not recharging the battery

Your charger might be dead, check his output with a voltmeter if you get some juice. It should be around 19 Volts. Then it might loose his power with a charge (when you plug it onto your laptop) so you can try to connect a car light bulb to it . If get light then probably the motherboard of your laptop has issues, if no lights then you can replace your charger.
Cost in average 45 USD.
good luck
