Question about Lexmark X6180 Printer

Lexmark X6180 Driver for Windows Vista & Installation CD

I purchased a new computer about 1-1/2 years ago. At the time, there was not a driver to support my Lexmark X6180 All-in-one printer. However, I am sure that by now there is one. I am in the process of hooking it up, but I cannot find my installation CD. Can I replace the CD?

Can you help me?

Want to install it on my new computer and do not

Go to the following URL:

http://support.lexmark.com/index?page=recommendedDownloads&locale=EN&productCode=Z25_COLOR_JETPRINTER&segment=DOWNLOAD&userlocale=EN_US#1

There you will find the drivers for both Windows XP and 2000. As this printer was discontinued some time ago it would be a good idea to put a copy of the driver onto a CD or DVD and store it in a safe place. Eventually Lexmark will take the driver off of their site and you will then find it very difficult to find them again.

I am trying to install my lexmark x5470 to my laptop but it is not listed

To install your printer do as follows:

A) If you have the CD that came with the printer:
  • run the CD to install the driver and the software;
  • follow the installation instructions
  • do not connect the printer to the computer prior to installing the driver/software; do it only after the installation process is concluded or if and when the install wizard instructs you do do so.

B) If you don't have a CD:
  • read this FAQ: How to Install a Downloaded Driver
  • download the correct driver for your system from LEXMARK:
    Downloads for Lexmark X5470 printer
Note that here are four different drivers for your printer: one for MAC systems, and three for Windows systems (Windows Vista 32, Windows Vista 64 and Windows XP/2000). Make sure you download the right one. To access the Windows drivers, click on the 'Microsoft' tab.
  • install the driver following the instructions on the FAQ above
  • do not connect the printer to the computer prior to installing the driver/software; do it only after the installation process is concluded or if and when the install wizard instructs you do do so.

New computer .. old printer

You're right they don't support your model in Vista. I would suggest trying the X6170 driver, which is available. I'm a betting man, and I bet it will work fine with yours.
Get it here:

Here is the link to the x6170 which will work for the x6180. Just choose your operating system (XP or Vista) and download the driver file. You can also download the manual there if you need. Steve Medley

Lexmark X2470 All-In-One Installation Problem.

This is from the Lexmark support site:

Attention Windows Vista Users

If you have installed your printer on your PC using an original Lexmark Driver CD that came with your product and you are experiencing problems when printing, you may have installed the Windows XP driver.

Follow these steps to resolve:
· Disconnect your USB cable from your printer.
· Uninstall all Lexmark printer drivers on your PC.
· Download the correct Vista driver for your model.
· Install the driver on your PC.

Important - Do not reconnect the USB cable until the install software prompts the question of how the printer is connected.

I'm going to need more information here. What operating system are you using? If you're using Vista, the CD that came with your printer is probably useless. You first must download the Vista drivers from here: http://downloads.lexmark.com/cgi-perl/downloads.cgi?ccs=229:1:0:439:0:0&emeaframe=&fileID=11493&searchLang=en&searchLang=en&os_group=Windows%20Vista Here's the installation instructions: Attention Windows Vista Users If you have installed your printer on your PC using an original Lexmark Driver CD that came with your product and you are experiencing problems when printing, you may have installed the Windows XP driver.
