Question about Belkin (F5D7230-4) Router (587009)

2 Answers

Belkin FSD7230-4 Hi there, hope you can help. I have a Belkin FSD7230-4 which I have had problems with since installing. I have a wifi compatible laptop and broadband connection. With the router installed I can access the internet wirelessly but when downloading or watching video clips the 'broadcast is interrupted after about 40 seconds. Whilst it is possible to move from webpage to webpage it would appear that the signal is being blocked or interrupted. The installation disk is does not function properly and has to accessed through the 'Run' command. This only allows access to the easy install wizard which does not allow you to simply go in and change the channel. I cannot find the hardware installed on the computer and therefore need advice on how to get this router working properly please. Yours Alan

You don't actually need the software for this. All you need to do is login to the router via the web interface (usually 192.168.2.1 or 192.168.1.1 for Belkin). You can configure the channel etc options from there.

Thank you for using fixya.

Being that your other computers in the network are working properly, you should switch the ip settings on your comnputer to automatically detect. That way your computer does all the routing and ip setting,

After you have set that back. Remove the power of your router, remove the power of your modem, and restart your computer.

Once your computer is back up, turn on modem, then the router.

It sounds very simple, but in most cases, it solves the problem.

Hope this information is helpful

Is my Belkin F5D9630-4Av1 router compatible with windows 7 64bit. Wifi connections problems with my new lenovog560 laptop

Whatever Operating System you install on your computer will not matter it doesnt effect your connection at all. It has to do with what type of computer you are using and if the hardware in the computer is compatible with your belkin router. Your belkin router must not like the wifi card that is in the lenovog560 that is why you are having connection problems with that.

Wireless printer compatability

Any printer can essentially be made into a "Networked" printer that function is all a function of software. You can usually, use any WiFi printer, as long as you know it's address, and can connect to it. Install the drivers and connect to the, WiFi, Networked Printer. A WiFi networked printer, is essentially seen as a "PC". It simply has an Address, and you just "Connect to" that address...

Installed belkin router for my lap top - doesnt work

Hi,

Thanks for using Fixya!

You have the right gizmo there. You just need to set it up correctly. If you are in the US contact belkin @ 1 800 223 5546.

You need to know your ISP type first before trying to contact them. Know if you have a PPPoE (High speed DSL with password) Dynamic IP internet (no user name or password required to connect to the internet, usually used by cable internet providers)

After you find the right information just contact belkin and they will assist you with the proper router usage.

Have a great day.

My Belkin Router is preventing few sites likes Yahoo etc to open

  1. tep 1 Determine which blocked websites you would like to gain access to.
  2. Step 2 Choose a website that features an "Unblock" tool to help you.
  3. Step 3 Enter the URL in the appropriate section on the website. Usually there will be a button to click that says "Unblock Me"--click it.
  4. Step 4 Attempt to gain entry onto the blocked website. If for some reason it didn't work, you may want to try another unblocking website.
  5. Step 5 Clear the Internet history.
i hope this helps

Major issues

I had the same problem. My Belkin N1 Router was constantly dropping the WiFi connection (every few minutes). I tried several solutions I found on different forums:

Change the channel selection from Auto to a specific channel -- I tried all 13 channels, but no improvement.

Update the firmware to the latest (Beta) version -- still no improvement.

Finally I enabled "Protected Mode" and the connection seems fine now.

Hope this helps, and good luck!
