Question about HP LaserJet M1522n MultiFunction Printer
Please clarify, I have some doubts, What if you print documents from the computer? or What if you scan? Is the problem only with Copy?. If possible, please upload a copy of the document (scan the photocopied document and upload here through "Picture" button). That will help a lot in identifying the cause so that we can troubleshoot and fix it.
Thanks and awaiting.

I have seen this problem be caused by 1 of 2 things. 1 is an easy fix, the other a bit more trouble. This first and easiest solution is to change out the toner cartridge. The problem you are describing is called ghosting or double imaging. Try a new or even used toner cartridge if you have one available and see if the problem goes away. If it does then great, you had the easy fix. If changing the toner does not resolve the issue then the problem lies with your fusing unit. The fuser film, which is a non stick film, starts to go bad in the fuser and a bit of toner starts to stick to it and then is re-applied in a much lighter form farther down the page. So that something that is printed at the top of the page is printed lighter farther down. If this seems to be the case then you can either have someone replace the fuser film only, or have the fuser unit replaced as a whole. In most all cases I replace just the fuser film for my customers. This is quite a bit cheaper at about $150 for parts and labor than the $300 plus that you would spend for a new unit. Unless the machine is very heavily used the rest of the fusing unit is fine and does not need to be replaced.
Good Luck and Thank You for using Fixya.

Is it possible scan a document you have the shadow on and post it here in the question? I am trying to picture exactly what you mean.. "a shadow of the document just above". Not exactly sure what that would mean, but I think I can help get it straightened out.
