Question about HP LaserJet M1522n MultiFunction Printer

When photocopying with my lazerjet, it prints a shadow of the document just above. This is especially noticeable when photocopying identification documents with a persons profile. What do I need to do?

    I'm away from the office right now. I'll be back on Monday and will send that scan at that time.
    Thanks

    I've had a friend e-mail me a copy of a document that was photocopied. Unfortunately it is in a pdf file. Is there a way to attach it here or can I get an e-mail address to forwad that to you?
    Thanks again.

    Hey Tim;
    The shadow problem started about a month ago but was barely visible. It's been getting worse and worse since. Now every once in a while it will give a good copy but its less and less frequent.

    Hey nonontech;
    I can't find the "picture button. Can you send me your email address and I'll send a scan that way? Thanks.

    Is there a way to upload pdf documents? I can't figure it out.

    Thanks

  • mstabell85 Oct 06, 2010

    Have you figured anything more out? It looks to me like the picture isn't so much giving a shadow as removing and moving some information out of the picture. It doesn't do it all the time and is sometimes worse than at others.

  • mstabell85 Oct 07, 2010

    Sorry! I was just wondering if you had come up with a solution regarding our photocopying problem.

  • mstabell85 Oct 09, 2010

    Hey all FixYa staff;

    Thank you all for your help. I know it was a duzy. We were able to figure out the problem on our end. It ended up being that our power supply was to strong. We are working off of solar power and an inverter here in Mozambique and the inverter was putting out 260V instead of the 220V it was supposed to put it. We are now running the photocopier off of another power source and it has fixed the problem.

    Thank you for your advice and intput.

Please clarify, I have some doubts, What if you print documents from the computer? or What if you scan? Is the problem only with Copy?. If possible, please upload a copy of the document (scan the photocopied document and upload here through "Picture" button). That will help a lot in identifying the cause so that we can troubleshoot and fix it.

Thanks and awaiting.

    Sorry, we are not allowed to post our personal info like email add or phone number here.. Once you click the "Add a comment" you should see the comment box similar to this (Please note: There must be two "Add a comment" tabs, one at the beginning of the posts and another at the end of the posts.)

    For free questions, there isn't, but as your request is Premium, you should see that. If you still have problem, you better post the scanned photo on a free picture sharing website and give me the link...

    You can upload the picture on Tinypic.com and give me the link/s (click here), when you open the link, you'll see the menus on the website similar to this:

    Choose the file, give a Tag.. and click "Upload Now", once upload is completed, you'll get all the links, [shown below]:

    Send me the last link "Direct Link for Layouts".

    Good luck.

    Ok.. we have no choice, and even if I give you the free file hosting site, you'll be having difficulty doing the same. Well, send me the scanned Pdf file/s here... nonontech at gmail dot com. I hope you'll get what I mean. Thanks.

I have seen this problem be caused by 1 of 2 things. 1 is an easy fix, the other a bit more trouble. This first and easiest solution is to change out the toner cartridge. The problem you are describing is called ghosting or double imaging. Try a new or even used toner cartridge if you have one available and see if the problem goes away. If it does then great, you had the easy fix. If changing the toner does not resolve the issue then the problem lies with your fusing unit. The fuser film, which is a non stick film, starts to go bad in the fuser and a bit of toner starts to stick to it and then is re-applied in a much lighter form farther down the page. So that something that is printed at the top of the page is printed lighter farther down. If this seems to be the case then you can either have someone replace the fuser film only, or have the fuser unit replaced as a whole. In most all cases I replace just the fuser film for my customers. This is quite a bit cheaper at about $150 for parts and labor than the $300 plus that you would spend for a new unit. Unless the machine is very heavily used the rest of the fusing unit is fine and does not need to be replaced.
Good Luck and Thank You for using Fixya.

Is it possible scan a document you have the shadow on and post it here in the question? I am trying to picture exactly what you mean.. "a shadow of the document just above". Not exactly sure what that would mean, but I think I can help get it straightened out.

Thanks
Tim

Make sure that the document you print is set to A4 or Letter, dependent upon the printer setup. If you try to print to the wrong size of paper, the printer will stop.

Most probably you are using the automating document feeder for the photocopy or scanning. If you can lift up the document feeder , there should be the mirror where you can put the original document for manual photocopy or scan. Clean the edges of the mirror with a printer cleaning liquid. There may be some foreign particle stuck there or it is just dirty from long use. Hope this helps.

Can i use my DCP 130C machine for photocopying? for small business. meaning iwill frequently use my machine for photocopying. would it be okey?What could be a posible problem in the future if there's any

You may use this a copier but usually, all in one printers used as copier take a long time to produce print outs. It isn't as robust as It usually scans the pages first (duration is the same as scanning a document) then prints it out (duration is the same as printing a document from a PC).

In my experience with our multifunction printer, a single page can be photocopied in about 45 seconds to 1 minute. It isn't as robust as photocopying machines.

Canon IR7105 Photocopier

Hello tophams,
I wish I had a magic wand to help you...but the answer is YES! You can fully control the priorities of how the 7105 handles printing/copying/scannng requests. I truly understand your dilemma, it is merely a matter of how the device has been configured. You can program the device to give priority to copies, which will cause print jobs to wait in the que until your copies are done. You can have the print jobs sent to a "mailbox" so that the person requesting a print job will have to walk up to the device and "summon" their print job. There are so many ways to help you with this. You will have to get "THE BOOK" out. I can't type all of the options available to you.

Poor print quality

the shadow-like copy of text is definitely coming from a faulty tone cartridge, replace it and you will have your solution,

the verical lines are caused by a dirty optical lens which is located under the keypad, just lift that up and you will see a glass bar that is likely dirty, clean it well and this should solve this problem as well

Photocopier prints red

You might be running low on black ink and it's not an item when you print from your computer because the settings you are calling for are different. The computer asks you if you want to print normal...to best, etc.
