Please follow the below things
1.On the PIN input screen, select I Forgot.
2.On the next screen, enter the answer to your
secret question.If you successfully answer the secret question,
proceed with editing your Parental Controls settings.
3.If you forgot the secret answer there will option below "I Forgot "4.Check Inquiry Number - Please call Nintendo Customer Service at 1-800-255-3700 and provide the inquiry number shown here, and the date that is set on your Nintendo DSi. You will then be issued a master key.
5.Tap OK
6.Enter the master key and select OK.
Now it will get unlocked.

The password is the same you use when you connect the computer ..is the one you have from the provider..this is happening only in case you use a dsl modem to connect ..probably by a phone line ..just phone to the provider and identify yourself and ask for the password and id again if you do not know that ...if the connection contract is on someone else name ask him cause it has to know them ..
yeah this is an alternative to the problem ...but only if you have the parental control ...
there should not be a master key ... there is only the password or the number ...and if it is a dsl..it should be a ID and a password for to log on to internet ..
try to see if the parental control is installed as a program ...
Look into the control panel on add remove software ...or ask him how and what software has installed ..and remove the program ..If it is installed into the modem ..just reset the modem ..insert the disk to configure it again ..and will be like new..
if it is a software into teh computer ..point it ..and remove it from control panel ..add rem software ..
there has to be a way to redo it ..cause if it was done from the computer is either into the modem settings or a software into the computer ..and in this case can be removed..
In the worse case if it is a resistant program just reinstall the operating system
I'm sorry ..I'm in Europe ..and I can not and the company will not permit me either ...but where is a number there is a email too ..take a look on the make and model ..and go to the manufacturer page ..and contact them on the customer support ..and let them know what s the issue...I advice you not to provide any numbers or personal ID until asked ..

Actually now that my son shows me the problem - I see the error msg is "restricted by parental controls", enter your PIN. My son doesn't know what this PIN should be. Thanks
OK. I have the Enquiry Number from my sons DSi. Can you give us a master key based on this?

The error msg shows he can't get to the internet due to parental lock. To change the parental lock I need a password to into this area.
My son is 10 and it appears he set the parental lock himself quite a while ago. He now cannot remember the answer to the secret question either.
It appears to me that this all needs cancelling out so there is no password (parental or otherwise) and then I can setup his DSi to use our wireless internet connection. To this I can give him the password. Thanks.
All of this is on the DSi, not the computer.
I can see how that the DSi operations manual says to phone Nintendo and obtain a master key. I guess you cannot supply this to me ???
