You can try this solution as i am not preety sure if this can work out because this problem can be arised with many problems.

(Soln 1) 1: Hold Down the Ctrl+Alt+Delete
2: Now You will find the Windows Task Manager.
3. Click on File->New Task
4. Now Type on the New Task "explorer.exe"
5. Now Click on OK.
If the above solution dosent work out try this.It might fix it.

(Soln 2) 1. Restart the computer and keep on tapping the F8 key.
2. You will find the Advanced Boot Options Screen.Select the option called Safe Mode and then restore the computer to an earlier point.

Why a black screen on xps l701x w7 i7 1.73

Black screen - no flashing white cursor in the upper left corner - no picture at all, i.e. the initial Dell start-up screen doesn't show up either:
- LCD is dead or isn't getting a signal - not an easy fix; or
- the LCD isn't being sent a signal - holding down the function [Fn] key and press display Function key to toggle through its settings (LCD panel only, Rear VGA output only, both LCD and VGA output)

Black screen - flashing white cursor in the upper left corner - the screen goes black after the windows loading screens come up but before the windows login screen comes up - it is probably a windows video driver problem. Try starting in Windows Safe Mode with VGA. Press [F8] after the Dell startup screen disappears to access the windows startup menu

Hi,

It appears that the Windows is corrupted on your computer, you can restore the computer back to factory default,to do so, follow the below steps: Turn OFF the computer, now as soon as you hit the power button, keep on holding "Alt" key & keep on tapping "F10" key, i.e Alt+f10, it will open the recovery console, select full factory restore and follow onscreen instruction.
NOTE: This will erase all the datas on the computer.

If the above steps are not working then I am sorry to say that it is going for repair as the Hard disk might have corrupted.

Thanks and regards,
Jitha

My laptop cant open the windows7, when i powered it on the screen appears" that hardware/software might be damaged, it is recommended to ; repair configuration or start up the windows normally"....

Try to go into safe mode by pressing F8 while the computer is starting.
You should get the option of repairing your computer or doing a system restore.
I usually try a system restore first if you know about when the computer was working.

I have the Dell 1525. The screen is black with only the cursor appearing. Please advise

Check to see if you have the machine switched out to a stand alone monitor. This is a feature on many lap tops that lets you re-direct the signal out to a larger monitor, or if your monitor fails you can display the computer info on another screen. This feature is engaged by holding down the Fn key and tapping teither the F4, or F6 key on many lap tops. This feature can be toggled by both displaying at the same time or switched to the stand alone or the Lap top.

The other cause is that the machine has malfunctioned usually because of the CPU failure and there is nothing to boot the machine up.

If you have the original Vista DVD that came with your computer, try running startup repair on your computer using the instructions here:
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial148.html
If startup repair doesn't work, make sure you have not modified system files such as authui.dll. I happened to have the same problem once on my computer :)
Try running this command in command prompt using the Vista DVD... sfc /scannow

Blank screen appears on the startup with only cursor on it

The Acer Recovery CDs do not set the Boot flag on the hard drive. I had to manually set the boot flag to on using GPARTED Live. After restarting using the GPARTED CD, you can manage the flags under the partition drop down and click on the Boot flag. After exiting GPARTED, I rebooted the laptop and no more black screen....fixed!!
I hope this helps others.

Blank screen with cycling colours (no BIOS; no POST)

Try running diagnostics. Tap F12 repeatedly on the dell logo till you get the boot device menu. Choose diagnostics. Go through it.

If it doesnt even pull up the diagnostics, you can follow this walkthrough from dell's website.
