Door wont close

I found advise you gave to another as how to manually release the door lock. My problem is that we can not close the door and since we had to just pull the door open without manually releasing it (i hadn't found this place yet) we are now trying to close it and it won't close.
There seems to be some type of black tab in the middle of the latch on tub that looks like it is in the way. Can you help before I call the repairman and spend at least 150.00 on this?? Thanks! cherie

I just posted a solution for you on your previous post. I understand that your door will not close. The door latch has probably been damaged. You can try locating the manual release on the door latch assembly and pulling it to see if it resets the latch. Follow this link to see how:

If it doesn't reset, you will need to replace it. Use the link I provided to you previously for the instructions on replacing the door latch. A replacement latch costs approx. $43 and can be repaired by YOU. It's not a difficult repair job at all. You can save quite a bit if you read the instructions I have posted and do this yourself. Don't get discouraged, if you need help I can guide you.

Why is my duet whirpool washer door not cycling through. It seems locked open

Remove the panel beneath the door (2 or 3 screws). Reach up, there is a little "ring" beneath the door lock. Pull this down, it releases the mechanism. I found this at the Appliance Guru website.

Wont empty or spin and wont release door

Hi cacaedwards,

The reason why it is not spinning, is because it can not drain the water already in the machine, and the door is not releasing for the same reason.

I would advise you to first lay the drain hose on the floor out the door (into a drain preferably) Most water will start to siphon out at this point.

You may need to clean the drain filter on your machine, find instructions on how to do it, by reading this following tip:

Kind Regards :-)

We have a whirlpool duet front load washing machine door is stuck closed. i have unplugged machine still wont open?? any solutions i can try myself before i call a repair person??

You can manually unlock it. Unplug washer. On the lower panel there are 3 screws, either 1/4 inch or they are the hex bit. Remove these screws and the panel will come off. Reach up on the inside on the right side. You will be able to feel the door lock mechanism, near the bottom of the mechanism is a pull release lever, pull down on it and the door will unlock. The door lock may need to be replaced. I hope this helps

Door wont open

did you try running a drain and spin cylce? there might be water in machine still and thats why door not unlocking..Assuming theres no water in machine( youcant see any waterline though glass) you can remove the bottom cover (3 torx 15 screws) UNPLUG UNIT. reach your hand up approx six in. on right inside face of unityoull find a manual release for the door lock assy, round tab mounted to bottom of latch assy approx size of a quarter, give it a pull and door will open, might be a fluke that it lock but i would check for operation before filling with close again

Hotpoint Ultima extra WD72

There are 3 possibilities 1 altough the water as drianed the pressure switch as not released due to blocake in the filter, or the interlock has jammed on the closed position which means it will have to forced open or the last fault could be the power board has gone.
