Maybe is asking the pasword of the router and from the factory the id is admin ...and the password admin ..if you never changed them on settings ...(when you first set the router to the internet ..(Wlan ) (infact I believe you connect the router to the DSL modem but it is the same thing
anyway ..if you have a router too ..connect the player to the router directly ..and try to find the player by the Ip address or ..if you have an user and an id password set on the wireless try with those cause maybe is asked for that ..or ..if nothing is set ..just try to let them empty and hit ok ..cause probably you never set an ID and a password for the player ..

after I posted that I see that you already have been advised for those ...almost all of them ...but when I realized that you actually connected the player directly to the internet ..(modem ) it has to be the password and the Id that you use to connect your desktop computer to the line ,,if the modem is on a phone line ....you know ...the one from the provider...if you are not the the one ...whom made the contract ..ask your parents or what ever one made it ...cause when you are on a modem you always have a password from the provider to connect ..

but even so ..if the password will be the one I say ..you will have a hard time getting files from your laptop cause all you will be able to do is to connect the player to the internet ..and you still have to make a connection between the 2 of them ..
If I were you ..I would try some other solution ...like cable ...or memory stick ..or an external Hdd to transfer the data .

Like I said ...for better connection and to see the player in the my network places folder...on the work-group computers or ..in the networked devices..you have to have the player connected to the default gateway ..and in our case thi sis the router ...(wireless one ) and not the modem which plays the role of the dns server ...

don't forget to vote ..otherwise the first that answered will cash in even if it wasn't helpful at all... and let me think what you've done ...cause like I said ...even if you connect it to the internet will not be that easy cause you will have to find a way to connect to the laptop via IP ..(private connection ) ..and than transfer files..but if you make a direct usb connection or so ..it will see the hdd or internal memory inside it ..like a removable storage device ..and will be seen into the My computer folder even if you do not have the driver for it ....but if you have the driver is easy like a mp3 stick ..
also you might try to connect them via lan ...from one lan card to the other and after that run the new connection wizard from the my network places folder ..just like you connect 2 computers or a second one to the internet via one already connected...(this in case it do not see the player without the driver ...will see the lan card for sure )

The user ID and password are the ones you use when you login on your Windows account from the laptop. They are needed because the media player need to have access to those files, that are in your account.

Have you configured the router accordingly -? Have you enabled remote logging in Windows?

Hi, you don't connect to the DG-HDMP500TT from your desktop.

The device connects to the wireless so you can access the internet from the device and only for limited sites like youtube etc.

Lost all memory on hard drive

Once it's gone, it's gone.
You can try loading the firmware update from Philips website, but this is unlikely to resolve.

Philips HDD – Reloading the Firmware Hack

1. Plug your GoGear HDD into the computer
2. From ‘My Computer’ right click the GoGear drive and format it. Be SURE you format it as FAT32 and quick compression is not on
3. Create 3 folders on the newly formatted disk called: ‘_System’ , ‘Data’ , ‘Media’
3. Download fom Philips the latest Device Manager for your kind of player
4. Install the Device Manager
5. On the Desktop, right click the Philips Device Manager shortcut, then Properties, then open file location.
6. Copy the folders you see there into the ‘Data’ folder
7. Copy the Firmware.ebn file into the ‘_System’ folder
8. Unplug the device and now it should run fine

PVR-H140 doesn't work but cannot restore files

Problem is once the hard drive is corrupted you can't access usb to fix the problem. You have to remove the four screws on the back cover remove the 40gig hard drive. Find a laptop or an ide to usb adapter to reformat the drive. Must be fat32 not ntsf. Then copy all files back onto drive.
