My Samsung galaxy i5801 occasionally switches itself off, and I have to hold in the power button for 8ish seconds to affect a hard reboot; I've only had it a month or so, and it never happened at first, could it be an app I have downloaded or something more sinister? TIA!

To <span>Hard</span> <span>Reset</span> Samsung I9000 Galaxy S<br />
1. Turn the power off. If your Samsung Galaxy S is frozen, pull the battery out and <br />
reinsert it<br />
2. Hold the Volume Down button<br />
3. Press and release the Power button<br />
4. You are now presented with a menu that allows for Fastbook, Recovery, Clear Storage, <br />
and Simlock<br />
5. Select Clear Storage by pressing the Volume Down button<br />
6. Press and release the Power button<br />
7. Now simply confirm your decision: Volume Up for YES and Volume Down for NO<br />

If the above procedures doesn't work, use this second method below,<br />
1. Shut Down Samsung I9000 Galaxy S<br />
2. Now press the Volume up, Home and Power button together.<br />
3. When Samsung Symbol shows up release the power.<br />
4. Then there is a boot Menu. Use the volume up/down to choose and home to select.<br />
If YES is selected, all data including third-party applications will be deleted from your <br />
Samsung I9000 Galaxy S. Once the wipe is complete, the phone will reboot to its factory <br />
fresh state.
The Galaxy Tab 2's software is not perfect and I have seen several reports it may hang up itself to the point where it does not respond to the power button anymore. Unfortunately, it does not provide a forced shutdown.
However you can do the following:
1. Plug in the charger and connect it to the table.
2. Press *and hold* the power button for roughly 15 seconds. This will cause a hard reset, and the machine will reboot. Release the button when it does.
3. After the "Charging Battery" screen is displayed, you may remove the charger and the tablet will power down.
1. Power off phone
2. Press and hold Home Button ( middle ) + Volume Up + power on button
3. Wait for 5 second until Android System Recovery menu appear
4. There are 4 options
reboot system now
apply update from sdcar
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
5. Move the options to " Wipe data / factory reset " using volume down ( - ) button and menu button to confirm, because the touchscreen doesn't work in reovery mode
6. After the process done, phone will reboot.
1. With the device off, press and hold Volume Up and Power.
2. Release the Power button when you see the Samsung logo ( about 3
seconds), but continue to hold Volume Up until the recovery screen
appears.
3. Use the Volume buttons to navigate the menu and select wipe data / factory reset. Press Power to continue.
The Galaxy Tab should then go through the hard reset process ( formatting user data).
4. When formatting completed, navigate to select Reboot system and press Power.
How to Hard Reset Samsung GT-P1000 Galaxy TAB: If your Samsung GT-P1000 Galaxy TAB is frozen and unresponsive, press and hold [POWER ] for 8-10 seconds. The device will reboot automatically. If this does not solve the problem, perform a factory data reset. In Menu mode, select Settings ? Privacy ? Factory data reset ? Reset phone ? Erase everything.
